🇪🇺🍷 This week, the CEEV - Comité Vins held its General Assembly in Brussels, a valuable moment to reflect on 2024 and gear up for the challenges and opportunities of 2025. We were honored to have Angelo Di Mambro, agri editor at Euractiv, share his insights on the future of agri-food policy in light of the incoming European Parliament and European Commission. His perspective provided crucial context as we navigate the road ahead. The General Assembly was the occasion to reiterate our call for the conclusion and swiftly ratification of the EU-MERCOSUR Trade Agreement. 🌍 Trade deals like this are essential for enabling EU wine to diversify markets, access new opportunities (Brazilian wine market in this case), and strengthen resilience in these challenging times💪 #TradeAgreements #EUMercosur #Sustainability European Commission

To promote U.S. agriculture as a sustainable, available and high-value source for food and feed, U.S. Grains Council staff based in its Beijing, China office recently participated in the 2nd China International Supply Chain & Logistics Expo. The event, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and held over five days, boasted nearly 700 exhibitors and attracted more than 50,000 attendees including policymakers and fellow industry and logistics professionals looking to establish lasting business relationships. “Reinforcing U.S. agriculture’s place as the most reliable and highest-quality supplier for the world’s food demand was a top priority for us at this event and I absolutely think we accomplished that through networking with participants at our booth,” said Manuel Sanchez, USGC director in China. Global trade has profoundly shaped economies, with the U.S. leading major trade agreements like NAFTA, USMCA, and WTO initiatives. These agreements integrate supply chains and sustain millions of jobs, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, and technology. Vermont plays a significant role, with nearly 20% of its jobs tied to trade, primarily with Canada, China, and Mexico. While trade boosts economic growth, tariffs can disrupt supply chains and increase consumer costs. Roger Allbee’s work highlights Vermont’s contributions to global trade and agriculture through international collaboration and policy leadership. See https://lnkd.in/eaCPBr4X
