I was just discussing this with students yesterday. It is critical that support systems understand that leaving is not easy. Health professionals and the justice system need to help clients prepare, even if it takes multiple tries to leave.
Leaving an abusive relationship is often much more complicated than it seems. Survivors face numerous barriers that can make leaving incredibly difficult—emotional, financial, cultural, and more.
