Exciting Advancements at Siemens! See how the YSIO X.pree improves examinations: AI speeds up range adjustments for long-leg and full-spine examinations by 92%. See how else it can boost radiography workflows*: https://lnkd.in/eKT4Ryrp #SiemensHealthineers #rad #radiography #launch #YSIO *Compared to Smart Ortho - white paper (2023): YSIO X.pree – How intelligent imaging ensures an efficient and patient-centered radiography workflow; Range adjustments for long-leg and full-spine examinations are defined as the time between setting the upper and lower limits of the desired field of view. This is based on the assumption that technologists require 1.5 seconds of perception time (Hooper-McGee, 1983) to assess the AI-based collimation results.

In the ever-changing field of medical imaging, the transition from conventional print media to digital platforms has transformed our way of capturing, reviewing, and sharing diagnostic information. The process has been made easier across modalities like X-ray, Ultrasound (USG), High-Resolution CT (HRCT), and MRI due to DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standards; thus image reviews are done faster, more accurately and they are available to everyone. The progressive incorporation of DICOM has resulted in enhanced patient care through real time image analysis and smooth cooperation between specialists besides improving efficiency in medical imaging work systems. Is #AI in healthcare a threat to patient safety? Or can it maintain and even improve patient safety? Healthcare providers are working harder and faster than ever before, and our medical environment is increasingly complex and prone to error. We need to mobilize all potential resources to keep patients safe. We have a long history of looking to technology to help prevent error and reduce risk – so why not also look at AI through a patient safety lens? Exploring and advancing AI as a safety device will require progress on four fronts: 👉 Research – Understanding the potential impact of AI deployment on patient safety and on safety disparities 👉 Regulatory – Considering whether to expand the regulatory focus for AI software from device performance to the effects on population safety 👉 Reimbursement – Getting serious about supporting proper reimbursement to incentivize adoption 👉 Recognition – Incorporating AI for safety (if proven out by research) into standardized healthcare quality metrics, value-based purchasing, and accreditation initiatives This is all ICYMI from my keynote address at #QSI2024. We had some great discussion about systems thinking, implementation science, funding sources, implications for efficiency, and the need for human involvement and oversight. Thanks to American College of Radiology for the invite. Let’s keep the conversation going! Comments welcome. Today at #QSI2024: Rick Abramson, MD, MHCDS, FACR leads a dynamic keynote on AI as a safety device. Hear how emerging AI technologies can foster collaboration, and drive improvement and positive change in the radiology field.
