Great opportunity for journalists in Hungary! BIRN's Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence is opening its 2024 call for applications. The programme provides a 3,000-euro bursary and sustained editorial support to journalists. The deadline for this year’s entries is March 25, 2024 Applications are solicited under an annual theme. This year’s theme is Voices. “On social media today, it can seem as if everyone has a voice. However, not all voices are heard, or worth hearing. What are the voices in your society that have been drowned out by the noise? What do we miss when we don’t listen? Whose are the voices worth seeking out at this moment? How does power speak, and what does it leave unsaid? ", Fellowship editor Neil Arun says. Details here: https://lnkd.in/ghjwziFi

Award-winning 2nd gen journalist, editor, travel writer, author. Solutions journo trainer, climate solutions fellow. Poynter women's leadership grad. Books: Jerusalem, Israel, West Bank. Yakama Nation family.
Why journalism? This is a question my eldest child (who is 12) posed to me recently when asking about my career choices. I found myself responding that I've always liked writing, and with a degree in International Relations, when diplomacy, politics and law were off the table for me in terms of best fit options -- journalism became the natural career choice. What I wish I'd said: Journalism is a place for dreamers who can take a vision and make it a reality. Given that, why wouldn't I choose to be a journalist? #journalismmatters #journalists #mediamatters #journalism

Delighted to share that my first co-authored paper has been published in Journalism! With Carolyne M. Lunga (PhD), we compared journalists' discourse on disinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa and France to examine the narrative strategies used to reaffirm their authority in a time of crisis. Get in touch if you want to discuss further. https://lnkd.in/epepFiY8
