Endurance Sports, Suffering & Life: A Balanced Perspective with Danielle Pellicano My guest is Danielle Pellicano - Founder of Pellicano Endurance Coaching - NASM CPT, TPI, FMS This episode still fits into the format of a conversational interview, but it was done through a slightly different lens. Danielle has been a friend for many years and we've always wanted to work together on a project and it's finally coming together. Much of this show is me finding a subject matter expert, drafting some topics and questions around topics that I am curious to know the answers to, and sharing it with everyone here. The hope is that my curiosity overlaps with your questions, pain points, and uncertainty so the show is valuable to you. That can be a bit of a shot in the dark! So, the idea is to have Danielle record videos of peoples questions when she is working on the floor at Lifetime Fitness. She and I will then spend 10-15 minutes answering that question and we will do 3 questions per show. The segment will be called "On The Floor" and it will come out on the last Monday of each month starting in January. Much more to come on this as we get closer to the first episode! In this episode we go over the following: - "Suffering" in endurance sports and life - Is suffering a teachable skill or is it intrinsic in most people? - Goal setting and building community - Longevity as a coach and trainer - How the fitness industry has evolved - How to not let technology get in the way of the ultimate purpose of your workout or training As I mentioned above, this is more of an introduction to Danielle for anyone who doesn't know her since we will be doing a monthly episode titled "On The Floor". I'm really looking forward to that alternative format, but more so excited to co-host with one of my closest friends and trusted industry experts. When people say “Love the process” what they really mean is: Love what the process offers you as an opportunity to learn and develop yourself. When times get tough and it all feels wrong, if you can look back and see the marginal gains you’ve already made, you’ll find a reason stay the course. A question I asked Charlie Botterill a couple of weeks ago on the The MindSets Podcast: “How much money would you take to stop chasing your goals?“ 💸 It’s an interesting question because money offers a shortcut to a goal but doesn’t guarenteee success.
