Kyanna Sanchez, pursuing a degree in Nursing, was inspired by her mother, who is a nurse, and wanted to follow in her footsteps. "Like her, I aspire to be the person who helps make a difference in someone’s life. The person who helps a mother return home to her children, offers a comforting hand to a young child in pain, or acts like a family member to the patient who has no one’s support," she said. Kyanna is this week's UTRGV Profiles in Excellence student. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g-e99Zhi #utrgvpie #utrgvprofilesinexcellence #utrgvnursing

It's always good to remind ourselves about the core competencies and standards we need to meet in our professions. The Royal College of Nursing - Company have a plethora of information for ANPs, including a full breakdown of the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice. Totally worth a print out of page 5. Glue it into your journal so that you can refer to it as and when you need to. Unless you know them all of by heart that is! Happy Nurse's Week 2024! I am so proud to be a 4th generation nurse that stands on the shoulders of countless legends. My promise to the nurses that have paved the path for my success so far has 2 parts: 1. I promise to be intentional and grateful. I commit to surround myself with people that share my passion & celebrate each other's contributions - Iron Sharpens Iron. I am ecstatic to work with a courageous and innovative team of Nurses that are mission driven to deliver a workforce reality enabling clinicians with flexibility and the compensation they desire while creating financial sustainability and reliability for healthcare organizations. 2. I promise to say the hard things that need to be said. For instance, as we dive headlong into a new age of disruption & innovation at warp speed: if you're a healthcare leader whose organization is partnering with "technology firms" that don't have a Nurse voice at their executive table, ask them how they develop strategic solutions that are meaningful to real clinical users in a rapidly evolving environment. Then, ask yourself how many hours you've spent teaching them why/how systems need to operate in order to deliver seamless user interfaces & experience. If you don't like the answers, come sit by me and lets talk.

Back-end optimizations can save time with coding and billing. Restructuring OR case assignment algorithms can improve efficiency with surgical teams. But when does the patient actually see benefit from these costly endeavors? Mercy is using its patent-facing coworkers to bring safety and efficiency workflows from concept to implementation. The people that are closest to the patient experience are now able to test products, workflows, and more Impactful strategies. I’ve always said that some of the best healthcare professionals are the ones who have been IN the hospital bed, the ones who juggle their own health concerns, and who truly live the patient experience. It’s easy to get caught up in the latest trends of efficiency, cutting edge technology in our EHR and ‘what the competing system is doing better’ but programs like the Innovation Unit help us refocus on the mission, values, and charism at Mercy.
Brilliant nurses, assemble! This first-of-its-kind testing ground brings together some of Mercy's most innovative nurses who've "walked the walk" and know first-hand how to improve patient care. They're already hard at work to improve upon some of the industry's biggest challenges, and we cannot wait to see what's next! Meet the team at https://ow.ly/7vUF50Q3gMQ.
