I recently made a switch from Service Now → Amazon & System Design was one such topic that was a bit hard to revise. 😰 However since it’s frequently asked for senior roles, I made sure to prepare it by studying the major questions to cover all types of Designs! Huge thanks to Bosscoder Academy for this Project Handbook. Check here: https://bit.ly/3SoxDNa This guide contains → 👉 System Design Projects you can create from Basic to Advanced level i.e. from URL Shortener to Food Delivery apps like DoorDash Save this doc and share it with your friends 📃

I’ve been reading about Doordash’s experience with microservices and I thought it was very interesting that they encountered serveral problems with reactive autoscaling, where traffic adds more nodes, and prefer predictive autoscaling, where nodes are added based on expected traffic because 1) New nodes need time to warm up. As new nodes join systems, open connections and fill their cache they also temporarily increase latency and reduce capacity. Turning on more nodes which then reduce capacity can create strange results. 2) Increasing capacity can move the bottleneck during high load outages So more capacity isn’t always solving the problem and can make it harder to figure out where the problem is. 3) More variables in post-mortems make them harder When a service is having problems, the issue that caused the problem, the autoscaler and the people interacting with the service all effect the metrics and make them harder to interpret.

There’s been a lot of debate lately about whether microservices or monolithic architecture is the better choice. In my opinion, both have their pros and cons, depending on the use case. For instance, DoorDash recently transitioned from a monolithic system to microservices, and the migration wasn’t without its challenges. They encountered several issues during this process. If you’re curious to dive deeper into the problems they faced and how they handled them, check out this detailed blog on the topic by Navdeep Singh https://lnkd.in/gjhpnCU3

🍔What if Wolt positioned the tipping of the courier right after the delivery received? Currently you have to add a tip (if you would like) before placing the order. 💸There could be many reasons why is it at that stage of the order, but that leaves you with a feeling that you are tipping to “buy” a good service (at least for me). Sometimes I add a tip, sometimes I dont. In many occasions when I did not add a tip and I received a really good service, I always ended up thinking why wouldnt there be a post delivery tipping option. Maybe i had a wonderful experience, or it was delivered really fast, or the order wasnt messed up and for so many other reasons I wanted to add a tip. 🤑💲💰 Sadly there wasnt an option, unless you had cash (most of the time I dont carry cash…) On few occasions I have had the situation where I added a tip, and the courier couldnt find my location and had some issues finding it while talking on the phone. In few rare cases they were not happy and showed their emotions by sharing it not in a very polite way. At that moment I wondered if i felt good about the tip added. Long story short, choose a tip amount either in percentage of the whole order or a fixed sum after getting the order. Bolt rides has the same concept of tipping at the end. Make it simpler and better, why not to try, maybe this format would result in better service appreciation and higher rate of tipping👀🤓 P.S. If you like this series, please share your thoughts or the “pains” you face with your daily use apps and I will share some form of concepts. 👀👀

I have spent some days experimenting with #PartyRock (Amazon #Bedrock playground) by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a #GeneratieveAI nutritious advisor for how to achieve a weight goal (#diet plan) 🍔 🥩 🥗 . Some challenges that I have encountered: • Prompt engineering to aim to accurate calculations • Fine-tuning model to improve model results It returned good responses 🎉 , however, I recommend to use an external compute source to help with numerical calculations. About #PartyRock, the platform was easy to get started for everyone (no code at all). #PartyRock is like a quick solution to test your idea on how to apply #GenAI in your business before taking in real action. With my experiment, I think of HelloFresh can develop a chatbot to recommend an optimized menu to their customers based on customer's diet goal. For anyone, who wants to get a quick overview on how #GenAI works, you can start with #PartyRock and take a look on my demo here: 👍 Application Demo: https://lnkd.in/gjk-UGE6 🙏 Introduction Video: https://lnkd.in/gBpEmWts
