This recent report by EU Science, Research and Innovation examines successful initiatives that attract, train, or retain human capital to bolster entrepreneurial ecosystems in European non-urban areas. The study reveals how initiatives such as Connected Hubs (🇮🇪), RAISE Youth (🇪🇸), Lärcentrum (🇸🇪), Rural Move (🇵🇹) and Incubatore SEI (🇮🇹) promote #sustainability, inclusivity, and #resilience while leveraging urban-rural connections to enhance brain circulation, #innovation, and local opportunity.
A new EU Science, Research and Innovation report, which is part of the Startup Village Forum’s research activities, analyses successful initiatives, supported by public policies or private efforts, which focus on attracting, training or retaining human capital to bolster entrepreneurial and #innovation ecosystems in European #rural areas. The analysed initiatives have been promoted by public actors in Ireland (Connected Hubs), Spain (RAISE Youth) and Sweden (Lärcentrum), and by private ones in Portugal (Rural Move) and Italy (Incubatore SEI). They vary widely in terms of their typology, objectives, operational approaches, target groups, services provided, and implementation periods. They leverage urban-rural networks, thus enhancing brain circulation and brain bank. The study reveals that key elements for success relate to participation in #urban-rural networks, close collaboration with higher educational institutions, engagement with public #institutions, and robust political support across different tiers of government. Horizon4Poland'24 is a matchmaking event addressed to businesses and the scientific industries. The event's format introduces participants to issues related to the Horizon Europe program, enables them to learn about the Industry Contact Points' offerings, and assists them in finding international partners. As a partner of the Lukasiewicz Research Network, Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskola / EKA University of Applied Sciences participated in the event. The Rector of EKA shared her main insights about collaboration and fostering innovation: ☑️ We have to be brave. We must abandon stereotypes and do things we have never done before. ☑️ The success of research projects and innovation is not always a story about a lack of funding. Sometimes, it is a story about a lack of good projects. ☑️ One of the barriers to successful collaboration is a lack of entrepreneurial skills. #collaboration #project #research #skills
