Today’s piece of (pro bono) advice for nonprofit leaders… When hiring "entry-level" fundraisers you need to understand that NO PRIOR FUNDRAISING EXPERIENCE is required. It does NOT mean: - 2+ years of fundraising experience - Demonstrated history of exceeding fundraising targets - An excuse to offer lower compensation When you're hiring entry-level fundraisers, focus on their transferable skills, values, and potential. Also be prepared to provide the necessary training, because if you're not willing to invest in them and their understanding of the fundamentals, then the position isn't truly entry-level.
