Let’s brag: Nonprofits and philanthropy are essential to American freedom, liberty, and justice for all. We are created thanks to the First Amendment — and we make the First Amendment real in people’s lives every day! Yet now some elected officials are trying desperately to smear us by calling us “sleazebags”, “thugs, and “terror-supporting organizations”. To turn us into the next batch of imaginary enemies who they can complain about. And they are bullying and threatening to strip us of our Constitutionally-protected freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and advocacy. How will we as individuals, organizations, and as a sector respond? I share my thoughts on this question in today’s episode of the Fund the People Podcast. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
When powerful politicians try to brand nonprofits as thugs, sleazebags, and terror-supporting orgs, what will you do? Will you freeze? Take flight? Or stand up and fight back? https://lnkd.in/eSh7ZrYv On this NEW episode of Fund the People (S7:E6, published just this morning), host Rusty Stahl offers 3 examples of how the incoming Trump Administration may treat nonprofits and philanthropy, and gives tips for how you and your organization can and should prepare and respond. To kick off this new year, Rusty also shares a summary of 9 things FTP did to encourage investment in America’s nonprofit workforce in 2024, and how we will build on that work in 2025. And listen through to the end for a sneak peak of what’s up next this season on the Fund the People Podcast!
