As an employer you may be keen to provide skills and training for your employees, but the costs of this training can be expensive and therefore understandably you will want to receive some payback or benefit from the training. We have prepared a template Training Costs Agreement (a simple to use 2 page document with guidance) which can be purchased from our website which covers the key points needed to ensure that you have a legally binding agreement in place and that both you and the employee understand when the employee may be liable to repay you for some or all of the training costs. #ukemplaw

It's great that official competency checking is given priority over "tick box training" in this new guide to statutory and mandatory training from Skills for Care. EWS evidence this through our carefully created documentation, that is used 3 months after the classroom training (to give chance for skills to become "rusty" 😆) and use them as an opportunity to identify future learner needs. I am also fortunate that I work with a range of clients that give me real life examples of poorer practice (anonymised, of course) that I can use with staff to really get them to explore the concepts and see where the practice fits with the training and discover how practice can be improved 💪
