I'm not big on "lists" or beauty contests, but I'll admit that this one is cool. 🎉 Upsourced was named to the Inc. 5000 list this year. 🎉 Inc. 5000 is a different kind of list. You don’t win it by hiring a PR firm and getting your friends to nominate you. You earn it through results. Through hard work. Because this growing fast thing doesn’t just “happen.” It's a choice - a choice cosigned by a team of people who come to work every day excited by the prospect of more - more autonomy, more ownership, more expertise, and, let’s be real, more money. ;) But like anything, those things don’t come without trade-offs. Growing fast is hard work. The Inc. 5000, more than anything, is a recognition of hard work. Gray market, secondary market, or free market? Can you name one other consumer product besides network hardware that cannot be purchased and resold without the OEM's "consent?" Just like any kitchen appliance, TV, IPhone, DVD player, computer, car, etc., the software on network hardware IS transferable to a new owner. Can you imagine purchasing a used car and then having to pay Ford or Chevrolet a "relicensing fee" to start the car? The First Sale Doctrine specifically protects our right to purchase and resell network hardware just like any other property we own. And the software that enables a switch to be a switch IS NOT boxed software as the OEM suggests in Vernor vs Autodesk. The software isn't portable and cant be installed on different hosts. The software needs the hardware to function just as much as the hardware needs the software. You cant make a switch switch from ROMMON. We've been selling and supporting pre-owned network hardware for 25 years, and our inclusion as one of Inc. 5000's 2024 fastest growing private companies in the US is first hand support the free market for pre-owned network hardware is 100% legitimate. We know that you've been told by the OEMs that you cant use pre-owned hardware, but you can. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
