Labor Day is more than just a long weekend—it’s a day to honor the contributions of workers who have built the backbone of our nation. The holiday traces its origins to the Pullman Strike of 1894, a pivotal moment in the labor movement where workers united to demand fair wages and better working conditions. As we celebrate today, let’s remember the importance of the labor movement in shaping a more just and equitable society. Take this time to relax, recharge, and reflect on the progress that’s been made, as well as the work that continues. Happy Labor Day! While most people see Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer, the holiday is about more than just a long weekend. Today, we honor the countless workers who fought for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to unionize. To celebrate the holiday, I want to share some interesting U.S. labor facts with you! 👉 Union members make more money among full-time and salary workers than non-union members. On average, union members have a median weekly income of $1,263, compared to non-union workers $1,090. 👉 Despite strides in worker’s rights and fair labor laws, the gender pay gap still exists, as women make just 84 cents to every man’s dollar. 👉 Labor Day is a major travel weekend, with 57% of American adults stating they have travel plans. Thanks to those who fought for worker’s rights and unions, we get to take a break from work and enjoy a long weekend with friends and family. How will you be celebrating this Labor Day? #Laborday #laborday2024 #labordayweekend

Labor Day, observed annually on the first Monday of September, is a tribute to the social and economic contributions of American workers. The holiday's origins trace back to the late 19th century when labor activists advocated for a federal holiday to acknowledge the vital role workers have played in building America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. Today, many Americans celebrate Labor Day with parades and gatherings, echoing the traditions set forth in the original proposal for the holiday. This proposal envisioned the day being marked by a street parade to showcase the unity and spirit of local trade and labor organizations, followed by festivities for the enjoyment of workers and their families. These activities have become a hallmark of Labor Day celebrations across the country. Labor Day commemorates the decision by Congress in 1894 to designate the first Monday in September as a national holiday, honoring the nation's workers and their essential contributions to the country’s welfare. American labor has not only elevated the nation’s standard of living but also fueled the greatest production levels the world has ever seen. The labor movement has been instrumental in advancing the ideals of economic and political democracy. It is fitting, therefore, that the nation dedicates Labor Day to celebrating the American worker, the driving force behind the nation’s strength, freedom, and leadership. #laborday, #americanworker, #leadership, #USA

This day belongs to you. Regardless of your contract, position, salary or sector. Labor Day is celebrated to honor the contributions and achievements of workers and the labor movement. Originating in the late 19th century, it arose as a response to the harsh working conditions and long hours endured by laborers during the Industrial Revolution. The labor movement advocated for better wages, improved working conditions, and shorter hours, often through strikes and protests. Labor Day is celebrated worldwide, albeit on different dates, with various traditions and customs. It serves as a reminder of the hard-won rights and protections that workers now enjoy, thanks to the sacrifices and struggles of those who came before them. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on ongoing labor issues, such as fair wages, workplace safety, and workers' rights, and to advocate for continued progress in these areas. Ultimately, Labor Day celebrates the dignity, resilience, and collective power of the labor force in shaping societies and economies around the globe. #EasyStepIn #laboursday #mayday
