This newsletter I've written about Poor Things, White Boy Shuffle, the limbic system, Gay Talese, lying, Big Hard Excellent Fish, joshi puroresu, and more. For my Tuesday newsletters, I wanted to find a format that felt like part-essay/part-listicle, where I could take the focus of storytelling and spin them out into ten thoughts and recommendations to take with you this week. https://lnkd.in/eDME6nwE

Why do archives need a toolkit for Archiving Women’s Amateur Film? Because women amateurs' work is routinely hidden, not least by how we talk about women’s work- even before films reach an archive. Today I tracked down a Bealing film outside of the WFSA collection; attributed to Frank Bealing. Much of the collection held by WFSA bears this sole attribution. This edit (https://shorturl.at/koEGK) alternates between colour footage shot by Frank and b/w footage shot by Nancy. In this sequence we see both Frank with his camera, and Nancy with hers. This film wasn’t all Frank’s work. He is on screen, she is on screen, their cameras in their hands. We need to use a multifaceted approach: just the approach called for by the Women in Focus project. Award-winning Cinematographer fusing technical expertise and artistic vision to create stunning visual stories
Join me in delving into the fascinating intersection of gossip and history, as meticulously examined by Triparna Kalita. This groundbreaking research illuminates the pivotal role gossip plays in shaping historical narratives and influencing societal perspectives. Our exploration takes us on a captivating journey across the annals of human civilization, where the echoes of legends and the whispers of stories reverberate through time. From the ancient realms of Mesopotamia to the opulent courts of Renaissance Europe, gossip has intricately woven itself into the very fabric of our cultural heritage. Consider the riveting accounts of Cleopatra's romantic escapades, which swept through the ancient world, leaving an indelible mark on perceptions of power and intrigue for generations. Similarly, the scandalous rumors surrounding the Tudor monarchy ignited political intrigue, shaping the course of history in profound ways. Yet, beyond the allure of scandal and sensation, lies a deeper inquiry: What compels us to engage in gossip? Is it a quest for knowledge, a longing for connection, or the irresistible allure of forbidden tales? As we navigate the labyrinth of human experience, one truth emerges – gossip, not history in its conventional sense, catalyzes societal evolution. From the bustling marketplaces of ancient Rome to the cosmopolitan streets of contemporary metropolises, gossip remains the unseen force guiding our collective journey through time. B) Post 35.5, snack 2.5.2 © This is the 2nd of 4 visualizations numbered consecutively as one post. (PHOTO)MIRROR 2 (of 4 in a row): Leader of the TRAIN transport FILOs: 👉Suddenly another train approaches ON THE SAME TRACK... The two drive straight into each other… In all these FILO-stories, a +/- 20years old actress plays the leading role 'Philomeen Filo'. In concrete terms, her destination is indeterminate; she travels as part of the crowd, and witnesses Human social contact in the relevant (public) means of transport in each commercial with a length of ½ - 2 minutes. In her observations and interactions, she has an immaterial view of 'the middle way'. Her coincidence is that she gets involved in Human problems every time. You follow the symbolism of the filmmirror philosophy which is visualized in the front of every Filo-commercial with train travel. Continued: see below / here after: C) post 35.5.3

Are you sure what you see is real? Many of the celebrities we see no longer exist or never existed, but thanks to the matrix system , they make them appear "where they are not", by taking their photos or video clips from a bygone era, but which seems current. Using green screen and chroma key, You shoot a scene with a compact, uniform background color so that the foreground subject can be easily separated in post-production and the background can be replaced with any color... what you see on mainstream media is not real.
