Impact. This is one of the most important things to me, especially in the work I want to pursue. So, it's no wonder I go down the rabbit hole on Google Search and YouTube, reading and watching stuff on impactful careers. Of all the resources I've come across so far, this one resource stands out: 80,000 Hours. 80,000 Hours is a non-profit that exists for the sole purpose of impact and helping people pursue impactful careers. Their decade-long evidence-based research into what the world's most important problems are, how people can develop skills to help solve these problems while prioritizing their fit and happiness, how to figure out your passion, and a lot more has helped me learn a lot about myself and guide my choices. This is my honest personal experience and is not sponsored by anyone. Hopefully, you get the same value as me from this completely free resource! #impact I'll leave the link in the first comment.

What makes your heart sing? When it's 'me time,' what are the top three things that light you up? Consider those things you excel at and wish you could do more of. Reflect on your hobbies, the books that bring you joy, your volunteer or pro bono activities, the knowledge you've gathered just out of curiosity, and the expertise you've gained by expressing your unique talents. #career #business #venturecapital #linkedin #inspiration #startups #jobseeker #opportunities #engagement #growth #work #transformation #CareerDevelopment #interviewing #learninganddevelopment #women #careeradvice #goals #careergrowth #linkedincommunity #careeradvancement #workplace #HRcommunity #company #workday #strengths #careerchange

"We're the best kept secret in our field." Have you ever heard a nonprofit or social impact leader say this with pride? I cringe every time I hear it. Because being a "best kept secret" is hurting your mission: 1. Visibility = Funding The more people who know about your work, the more potential donors and supporters you can attract. 2. Awareness Drives Action If no one knows about the problem you're solving, how can they help? 3. Collaboration Opportunities Other organizations can't partner with you if they don't know you exist. 4. Talent Attraction The best minds in your field can't join your team if they've never heard of you. 5. Policy Influence Decision-makers are more likely to listen to well-known organizations. So why do some orgs cling to this "secret" status? → They think marketing is beneath them → They'd rather focus on "the real work" (newsflash: branding IS real work in 2024) → They lack marketing expertise or capacity → They've tried and failed to gain attention before None of these are good reasons to stay in the shadows. If you’re the “best kept secret” for your cause today, don’t be surprised if you get pushed to the sidelines tomorrow. Thoughts?

Today we hosted Erno Hannink and he introduced us to Inner Development Goals fundamental concepts. Inner Development Goals is a non-profit, open-source initiative committed to fostering inner development towards more sustainable futures. Erno is part of the IDG Hub in the Netherlands. He defines himself as "Lover of humans and the planet". Here are my notes on the conversation we had in Monday Space community today: 🎈 IDG movement appeared as a reaction to the unsatisfying progress of UN Sustainable Development Goals. How to reach the goals? Build the skills of Inner Development! ✨ "A Caterpillar should not die as a caterpillar, it should grow wings and fly!" ✨ "There is a limit to technocratic external solutions to our problems" ✨ "Outside perspective will be mirrored by **Inner Development** Skills ==== They asked 1000 people what the needed skills are, and mapped them to 5 domains and 23 main skills. This movement is Open Source, anyone can start a hub. The relevant links you can find in the comments section. Breakout Room Questions =================== We went into small groups and discussed: 1) How do you feel about IDG? 2) What do you think about how you can use the IDG? Example of answers: 1) Removing sense of victimhood and allowing people to see where they have power in their choices. 2) Working with leaders and teams - bringing the IDGs as a next level of awareness building in how we want to work - to bring in current data to make better decisions. Impressions ========= "I feel energised and hopeful now." "a very illuminating and inspiring session!" "Thought provoking" Thank you Erno Hannink for the session and Rebecca Sampson for hosting. Thank you to all attendees for your energy and contribution. A special mention to the newcomers! Looking forward to seeing you again at the next session, in June! Adrian Suciu P.S. You can find a list of links shared in the comments.
