Teacher | Entrepreneurial Coach for Young People | I help Young People find their purpose so they can have fulfilled, successful lives, whatever their academic record
When I was Head of Department, GCSE results day was one of my favourite days. Weird, huh? Now I believe there is WAY too much pressure on young people to evidence attainment in a qualification that doesn't actually serve them. There are also teachers feeling real anxiety at this time, knowing they'll need to "explain their results". The reason I loved GCSE results day was because I got to feel genuine pride for the students. And our department GCSEs were usually amazing too so I got to feel proud of myself and my team. We need other areas to feel this pride for our students in our education system. We only have one place to feel that collective pride: academic results. It is way too narrow and puts too much pressure on those involved. We have too few KPIs in schools. Let's celebrate academic achievement, but let's also find other areas of success in our education system. #education #teach #teacher #gcse #student #learn

Director @ More Than Learning Franchise | Looking for our founding franchisees who want to help us change the educational experience of every student we work with.
My aim for every student I work with is to empower them to have an enjoyable learning journey. I want every student to understand how they learn and be in charge of their own study skills. Our school system has become more and more results driven and our teacher's are under an enormous pressure to hit those targets. All students have target grades, predicted grades, flight path grades to name but a few. Many of these grades are predicted at year 7 and actually who's brain is fully formed at 11? Some students have really high grades to achieve and some less so. Either way schools are duty bound to hit or exceed those targets. Teachers don't have time to stop and think, "what is really their true potential". Therefore a student who is in control of their natural learning ability will understand what they are are capable of and not be driven by those predicted grades. #connectivelearning #teacher #students #GCSE
