I so enjoyed this deeply honest conversation with Laurence Tubiana around the complexity of today's #polycrisis challenges. Thanks to Laurence for her leadership and friendship and to Philippa Nuttall for guiding us so elequently during our exchange. We all expressed our frustration with the lack of speed and scale in the climate space and the current leadership vacuum. We know we have the solutions and have made progress in the area of #renewableenergy and #electrification but so much more has to happen. With growing push back from incumbents especially big oil we will not meet our #1.5 #ParisAgreement target. When will public and private sector leaders fully embrace a #lowcarbon future? #HurricaneMilton is another wake up call! Will leaders and citizens finally take heed? The Club of Rome Earth4All
#PODCAST: How is the growing trend of right-wing politics impacting climate action? Laurence Tubiana, CEO of the European Climate Foundation and key architect of the #ParisAgreement joins Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Co-president of The Club of Rome and Philippa Nuttall to emphasise the need to address social inequality and injustice as a part of finding solutions to the climate crisis. In this latest episode they discuss strategies for accelerating climate action and call for a rethink of existing economic systems to address growing poverty and inequality. 🎙️Tune in to our latest episode for a deep dive into the intersection of politics, equity and climate solutions: https://ow.ly/TNx650TBlEc

Sadly in this episode of the #podcast of the Robert Bosch Academy my colleague and co-host Dr. Pradnya Bivalkar was on well deserved vacation and our fellow Nisreen Elsaim had to fend for ourselves. We had a wonderful discussion about all that is important: #climatechange, #peace, #migration, #youth and #politics. My favorite sentence was "Why does politics have to be boring?" A very good question indeed! 🤔 Listen to our chat and tell us what you think! (Robert Bosch Stiftung)
In our newest episode of the #podcast "Think.Debate.Inspire" Henry Alt-Haaker spoke with our current fellow Nisreen Elsaim about the nexus between #climatechange, #peace and #migration and the important role of the younger #generation can play in it. ✔ We will never be able to solve those challenges if we continue to tackle them as separated issues instead of inherently intertwined. ✔ It is crucial to examine traditional institutions of decision making and make them more inclusive, attractive and yes fun (!) to the generation that will inherit the mess that the old generation has created. ✔ Improving state governance is key to be able to provide the basis for a good life for its citizens. ✔ The "West" has to face its responsibility as the part of the world that has caused the current climate crisis and shoulder a larger share of the burden than the so called "Global South", which is more affected but less responsible for it. Listen to this conversation on the usual platforms (https://lnkd.in/gy2RU_xb, https://lnkd.in/eMFTNizt, https://lnkd.in/eg2S9NCZ) and let us know what you think! (Robert Bosch Stiftung)

🌍 There are a lot of stories on our planet of people whose generations-old livelihoods and traditions are coming to an end because of the negative impacts of climate change. The thought that we might be heading towards a generalized mentality of 'every person for themself,' where the extraction of our planet's resources speeds up rather than slows down as a result of fear, is the kind of pre-apocalyptic thinking that gives us the creeps. ⚖️ Without just transitions for people whose capacity to feed their family depends on extractive industries, votes will always be based on fear. 🤝 With our world becoming so polarized, it's important that we listen to those on the 'other side' of our political beliefs and understand rather than demonize. Just one of the many topics we covered in our latest episode—listen here https://ow.ly/fqPX50Ttwxh #Democracy #SocialJustice #EnvironmentalJustice #PoliticalReform #Project2025 #GovernmentReform #PoliticalChange #FutureOfPolitics #ClimateAction #Podcast #Podcaster

“I like to use the analogy of having many eggs in many baskets. 🪺 For countries vulnerable to flooding and climate change led disasters, there is often no one solution that can provide them with the level of protection they need. So we address the problem with various different solutions simultaneously. The combined effect of these creates a resilient society in our books.”🙌 In a recent interview for The Ellipsis Drive Podcast, JBA Consulting’s Director, Dr. Mark Lawless was in conversation with our CEO, Rosalie van der Maas. In this article, we’re going to capture the essence of that interview and shed light on how JBA Consulting aims to create resilience against the changing climatic landscape. 🌍 Full article: ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/d32X8XXz #Resilience #ClimateChange #DisasterPrevention #EnvironmentalProtection

EWN® Podcast Season 7 Episode 13: NBS Policies and Strong Collaboration are Closing the Gaps on Climate Resilience in Arctic Regions – Posted! The Arctic is changing more rapidly than anywhere else on earth due to climate change, and this is profoundly impacting the people that live in and depend on the ecosystems in these cold regions. In Season 7, Episode 13, host Sarah Thorne and cohost Jeff King, National Lead of the Engineering With Nature (EWN) Program, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), welcome back Laura Wendling, Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Community in Trondheim, Norway. We continue our conversation on how innovative nature-based solutions (NBS) are being used in cold regions. Laura discusses some of the policies, challenges, and opportunities going on in Europe for advancing NBS in cold regions, noting strong explicit support for NBS within the European Green Deal and associated strategies–policies designed to set goals to deliver on international commitments. One of the challenges she notes is valuing NBS and making trade-offs, which are particularly evident in the Arctic. “Where we see the sea ice dissolving and opening up new transport routes and revealing previously unknown mineral resources, there are all sorts of development possibilities. How do we ensure that the Arctic is developing in a way that’s consistent with the needs and desires of the local populations?” Laura’s call to action: “Think about a consolidated action plan to engage the full range of stakeholders and move across borders to address the issues of climate change because climate change doesn’t stop at borders.” Tune in to S7E13 and learn more about application of NBS in cold regions! We hope you enjoy our final Season 7 episodes on NBS in cold regions. Season 8 kicks off in September. Subscribe to the EWN Podcast at (http://apple.co/3vuXxl6)!
