Mitigating this phenomenon is crucial for cultivating a more inclusive and intellectually stimulating online environment. Many users may naturally gravitate towards content that aligns with their existing beliefs, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of information consumption. Fighting Human Trafficking via REI and Data Science 🏠🐍| USMC Infantry Officer | MS Operations Research | Passionate about Community, Work, and Generosity
In our increasingly digital age, the hunger for genuine, face-to-face connections is more palpable than ever. While technology has enabled us to stay connected virtually, it falls short in providing the depth and authenticity that in-person interactions offer. This realization has become evident through the meetups we organize in DC. Sometimes attendees share that it’s the first time they've had a meaningful conversation with someone all week. The significance of stepping out of your home and engaging with people beyond screens cannot be overstated. Real-life interactions bring a richness and immediacy that digital communication simply can't replicate. I firmly believe that there's a tremendous opportunity for those who can leverage technology to facilitate real-world connections. Imagine a platform that not only connects people online but also encourages and facilitates meeting up in person. Some people are doing things like this already, and I see it paying dividends. As we navigate the balance between our digital and physical worlds, finding ways to enhance in-person connections through technology could be a game-changer. It’s about using the tools at our disposal to enrich our lives beyond the screen. #CapitolCreatorsAndChampions #WashingtonDC #NetworkingEvents #Tech #RealEstate #Consulting #PrivateEquity #VentureCapital

Founder & CEO @Sowen.co || Data & tech advisor @Bloomberg Philanthropies. Obsessed with the intersection of social impact and business results.
What made #goodTechFest different from any other conference I have been to? Here are 10 things that come to mind. 1. The People- Smart, kind, and thoughtful individuals from various lived and professional experiences coming together to explore the intersection of data, technology, and social impact. Where else does this happen other than at GTF? 👫 👬 👫 2. The Setting- For someone who is used to the soulless, suffocating echoes of conference venues and the beige walls of airport hotels, 🌄 Sundance was a perfect setting for something truly different in the most wonderful way. 3. The Design- The agenda design intentionally left ample time for casual conversations, coffee chats, and serendipitous collisions of creativity and inspiration. The relatively late starts also helped with the hangovers. Touché. 4. The Openness 🙏 - Every person I met showed up with curiosity, integrity, and a humble openness to listening, sharing, and learning. Even through tough conversations and topics, respect and collaboration prevailed. 5. The Structure- The wonderful combination of workshops and keynotes, in-person and virtual, roundtables and 1:1’s, and so much more made for a diverse way of sharing and absorbing information, interaction, and inspiration. 6. The Focus- Everyone I spoke with was vehemently adamant about making an impact, in ways large and small. I felt purpose. I saw integrity. I saw people who do the right thing for the intrinsic value of it. 🎯 🎯 7. The Content- Whether it’s the challenges of democracy, the structure of philanthropic funding, legal aid to immigrants, the use of AI in art, or tough but important conversations about DEI and ESG. Fearlessly facing the things that matter is not always easy, but imperative to progress. 8. The Challenge- I appreciated so many who shared challenging perspectives kindly yet fearlessly. Leaning into the friction and finding the common ground is the only way to progress. It felt like everyone shared this notion, which feels rare these days. 9. The Organizers- Andrew Means, M.P.P. and Brittany Biggs. Their passion and purpose drive careful planning, meticulous curation, thought leadership, and fearless execution. So inspiring that it almost makes you forget the coffee incident. ☕ 10. What’s next- This was my first. It was not only different but far beyond what I could have expected. I am thankful for the opportunity, am looking forward to meaningful work ahead, and am so excited for next year. So wonderful seeing friends and meeting so many smart people. Can't wait for next year. Tim Lockie, Kerrin Mitchell, Aylin Oncel, Kauser Razvi, Genevieve Smith Paul Sznewajs, David Goodman, Ph.D Rhonda Evans, Phillip Ng, Rachael Weiss Riley, Jesse Bourns, Hailey Barth, Allie McHugh, Woodrow Rosenbaum, Linda Widdop, Bria King, Samir Khan, Samantha Lee, Tony Wilkins, Jude O'Reilley, Rev. What can you tell me about ‘attention span’? Is it solely applicable to education? Is it associated to a generational divide? What about contextualization, environmental, and socio-economical factors? Not only is this the exact topic I’m interested in applying to explore in a PhD later this year, but I can also tell you that it was a ‘hot topic’ of discussion at #sundaySPARKs tonight! We discussed things like the ‘TikTok Era’, consumption versus creation, engagement over instruction, etc. There is research that was shared at tonight’s audio-only edChat, and serious questions posed about the structure of the school day, professional development experiences, and agency and choice across purposeful growth. Sometimes we are many at sundaySPARKs, where I’m barely able to keep up with navigating the XSpaces. Then some Sundays, like today, the conversation is so powerful that people are left with more questions than they initially joined with. Craig Shapiro’s leading an X chat in 10-mins, to dig a little deeper into this discussion across his X-space community chat. Why not join the #teachpos conversation in the North American time zone? https://lnkd.in/ekWPRUT6 The beauty of international conversation, is an opportunity to break free from silos, explore diverse thought leadership around important topics that are driving the future, and bridging borders to create empathetic connectedness in a world that often seems so broken. Whether you’re part of the corporate sector, education sector, or just curious about how we can collectively create greater global impact - join these impactful conversations! I’m live in X-Spaces most Sunday nights, at 11amPST-2pmEST-7pmBST-6amAEST (Monday am), and I would love to learn from your perspective and celebrate your voice! Join us? Please reshare to invite your community to join in these wider discussions, and turn-ON your notifications to join us next Sunday -> https://lnkd.in/eWYqSnVf #future #audio #conversation #impact #technology #thefutureisnow Kaylee Cammie Greta André Faye Oli Emma Jason Dr.
