This article seems to see the trees through the forrest by taking the position that we should be surprised that publishers are using AI as a way to lower content creation, management and distribution costs (the advent of this has been written about ad nauseam), instead of asking the hard questions about management & oversight, or the broader strategic questions that revolve around publisher business models in a very dynamic environment. Instead it chooses an inevitable piece of technology as the scapegoat for systemic industry challenges. There are big issues at play here around the strategic choices publishers have to make to stay alive - few, if any are addressed here. I suppose there is a certain painful irony in this article being written by a human (I think!) and failing to grasp the real narrative.
