🛩🪂🛰🎇🚛🚁⚓ATTENTION VETERANS! First off, thank you for your service. On D-Day, we are reminded of the incredible sacrifice of those who have gone before us. All gave some, some gave all. Never forgotten! Secondly, we have different reasons for signing on the dotted line and raising our right hand. Regardless of the reason, we did it. We served. We share a bond that stands the test of time. As we remember our brothers and sisters in arms today, I would like to add a special request. Many of our fellow veterans are going through transition OR have transitioned and are currently unemployed. Can we commit, as a team, to posting and reposting job opportunities that call for military skill sets? Can we post/repost hiring events? Can we offer our time to search through open reqs with them to see if we can help them find a fit? Sometimes it takes someone from the inside spending time to show them what types of jobs list military skill sets in the qualifications. What’s my WHY⁉️ In 2018 I volunteered at a Veterans homeless Stand Down, and ran into a person I was stationed with 12 years earlier…unfortunately they were enrolled in HUDVASH and weren’t one of the other volunteers.
I can’t stress this enough. Regardless of how you exit or feel about the military when you drive out the gate for the last time… I’d keep (and copy) EVERY piece of paperwork from your 4 or 40 year career. And I mean EVERY: ✅ Orders (of assignment) ✅ Evals ✅ Awards ✅ Enlistment Contracts ✅ Training / Schools ✅ Health Records ✅ you name it…. The latest “Expansion of Health Care Eligibility for Toxic-exposed Veterans” is just the latest example of why. After you get out, Finding and getting that paperwork can be an uphill battle. It’s easily a Top 3 question I get from veterans and transitioners (weekly). ….on a side note - “Defense Personnel Records Information Retrieval System (DPRIS) integrated in milConnect” is a perfect place to locate many of these items….if they’ve been uploaded. ….which is why making and maintaining your DS LOGON is important! You better call Tyrone
