✨ 2025: Time to Transform the Art World ✨ Thank you to everyone who supported ODBK in 2024. Last year, we launched the EMAMI Conference (Empowering Artists Minorities)—a bold step toward amplifying underrepresented voices. This year, we’re going even further with EMAMI 2025. Let’s connect, collaborate, and disrupt the status quo. ODBK’s mission is clear: to break down the barriers of elitism in art. The Pure Taste Indicator is one of our tools for change—an intersection of economy, politics, tech, and art, redefining how we value creativity. It’s more than a system—it’s a movement for fairness and transparency. In 2025, I’m focused on building collaborations in Europe, Africa, Latin America and beyond. Together, we can create a more inclusive, equitable art world. Let’s connect. Let’s build. Let’s transform art for everyone. FemFestival 2024 — you were fantastic! I spent the day surrounded by inspiring individuals and engaging conversations. I’m grateful for the chance to be part of the "Taking Back Our Voices" panel, led by the wonderful Louise Lai. It was a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and share stories within such a dynamic and supportive community! Some unforgettable insights from our panel session: ✨ Value Diverse Strengths: Amy Leach emphasised the importance of celebrating each person’s unique strengths in the workplace. She urged us to rethink how we enable everyone’s potential, broadening what it means to support each person’s contribution. ✨ Set Boundaries: I shared an important lesson in letting go—reminding us that saying yes to everything can keep us from noticing what truly needs improvement. Sometimes, letting things fail can spark the growth we need. ✨ Be Unapologetically Bold: Jane Trenaman encouraged stepping forward boldly, even as a minority voice, and not letting internalised doubts hold us back. Her words reminded us that we belong in every room we walk into. ✨ Just Show Up: Yvonne Luu inspired us with the simplicity of showing up, reminding us that half the work is just being present. Once we’re there, we can handle the rest. These insights are a powerful reminder of the path forward: embrace diversity, set healthy boundaries, stand with confidence, and show up ready to take on whatever comes. 💪🌟 Event DJ = Lottie Emily Dodd (loved the tunes!) 💃 🕺 #FemFestival24 #FemMentored #TakingBackOurVoices #WomenEmpowerment #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #Gratitude #BoldMoves

Yesterday we were joined by Bep Dhaliwal who delivered a superb session on 'Demystifying Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We were joined by individuals from a number of organisations demonstrating the desire and need for people to want to understand and learn more about this subject area. The 1 hour conversation provided a safe space for us to have discussions around this topic, share what our workplaces were doing and opportunities to share ideas. We loved Janusz Slezak thoughts on how to approach this and thought we would share it with you.... "Now let's imagine that you go to your favourite café, you take your own cup filled with your homemade coffee...We wouldn't do that would we? That would be ridiculous. The same would happen if we talked to people with our heads filled with solutions, advice and problem solving ideas based on our own perceptions. Just as in the café you don't bring your own coffee because you expect something special to be poured into an empty cup. During a conversation we should expect the same, we should expect something special when we ask open questions and turn on our active listening. Let's all change our mindset into an empty cup and we'll all benefit from hearing others thoughts, opinions and feelings whilst at the same time showing respect and triggering accountability" Thank you to everyone that participated, for your openness and honesty and especially to Bep for your wonderful delivery. We hope to bring more sessions to you in the future so connect with us and keep your eyes peeled for more sessions coming soon. If you want to continue the DEI conversation with us then let us know and we can arrange a call. #dei #diversity #equity #inclusion Samantha Caine FCIPD Sarah Taylor Anna Kalinowska Jason Harman Pauliina Rannikko Starling David Hunter III

Tokenism is something I’ve witnessed too many times. It’s when individuals from underrepresented groups are superficially included, often without being given real influence or power. It’s like being invited to the table but not being allowed to speak or make decisions. For people like me, from the Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) community, tokenism can feel like our presence is being used to tick a diversity box, rather than to drive real change. At PEP, this goes against everything we stand for. Our mission is all about advocating for genuine, equitable leadership and representation for the historically excluded GEM community. We are not here for performative gestures; we are here to ensure that people like us are empowered, not just included. Tokenism is damaging because it places individuals in roles that may look diverse on the surface, but without the influence or resources to bring about true change. This approach doesn’t address the systemic barriers we face and gives the impression that just having us in the room is enough, without actually valuing our input or investing in our growth. For me, and for PEP, it’s vital that we move beyond tokenism. We’re committed to creating spaces where leadership is not only diverse but also truly equitable. We want to ensure that GEM communities have the power to shape outcomes, to make decisions, and to drive meaningful change. This isn’t about appearances—it’s about real progress, equity, and representation that makes a difference. We need to steer clear of tokenism so that we can create environments where diverse voices are not just heard, but respected and acted upon. #TokenismIsNotProgress #EquitableLeadership #GEMRepresentation #AuthenticChange #LeadershipForAll #BeThatChange
