Maintaining instruments is a crucial aspect of geotechnical engineering, involving both physical support from the technician team and software support from the geotechnical engineering team. This ensures that all graphs and reports produced are valid. For instance, changes in daily reports may not reflect actual displacement on the walls or an increase in load but could result from software errors in generating the charts. When generating load cell graphs for the first time, variations might occur because the initial points generated can vary. Therefore, caution must be taken if any invalid jumps are identified.

Managing Director at Neos Recruitment Ltd - Engineering, Energy & Civil Recruitment | UK & UAE 07527623203
🚀 Why NEOS are the go-to for Plant Fitters! 🚀 Neos Engineering Recruitment are specialists within the Plant Sector, with over 12 years combined experience recruiting within this sector, there aren't many engineers we don't know! Last week, we had a meeting with a major manufacturer who we are now working with on roles across the UK! The Lead Recruiter for the business was searching for the names of a few candidates he was going to ask us not to send, due to bad experiences in the hiring process, such as accepting roles and then ghosting, or not being completely honest about qualifications/experience. He only had to mention the locations, and we knew exactly who he was talking about. Unfortunately, we have fallen victim to these names so many times, but not anymore! We won’t let our clients go through the same. There isn't a location in the country we haven't recruited in. Our market knowledge is the best in the industry! If you're on the hunt for: ✅Plant Fitters ✅ Heavy Plant Fitters ✅ Agricultural Engineers ✅ Recycling Engineers ✅ Wash Plant Engineers ✅ Static Plant Engineers ✅ Powered Access Engineers ✅ Generator Engineers ✅ Pump Engineers ✅ Forklift Engineers ✅ Piling Rig Engineers ✅ Crane Engineers Look no further than NEOS! Let’s connect. Comment below or get in touch at saul.enos@neos-engineering.co.uk or visit https://lnkd.in/er_Dth5U Jamal Kent Liam Quinn Jacob Deneefe-Porter #Engineering #Recruitment #PlantFitters #Heavyplant #Agriculturalengineer #RecyclingEngineer #Washplantengineer #Staticplantengineer #Poweredaccessengineer #Generatorengineer #Pumpengineer #Forkliftengineer #Pilingrigengineer #Craneengineer

Over the last few weeks, we have highlighted ways to improve the quality of geotechnical monitoring including: 1. Choosing the right instrument 2. Putting it in the right place 3. Installing it correctly 4. Reading and maintaining it properly, and 5. Installing it at the right time However, the value of monitoring is realised well after the right instrument has been chosen, put in the right place, installed properly at the right time and read correctly. Doing all of the aforementioned tasks well will undoubtedly take time and cost more, but not doing them well or missing any part of the process will likely mean that when the measurements are most needed they are not of a high enough quality to be of any value. Specifying instruments in a way that allows the contractor to choose the instrument to be used on the basis of the cheapest available is unlikely to result in high quality measurements. Installing instruments badly, reading them incorrectly and not allowing sufficient time to collect baseline readings, might save money but will also result in poor quality measurements. The late John Dunnicliff had a golden rule that “the goal should be to assign each task to the people with the greatest motivation to achieve high quality data.” The greatest motivation is usually found in someone that has knowledge of how the instrumentation works (i.e., a monitoring specialist) and this is most effective when the same person also has knowledge of how the ground or structure is expected to behave. At Geotechnical Observations, we pride ourselves on being knowledgeable about instrumentation, geotechnics and structures. The value of a monitoring system is only realised when someone trusts the data it provides, finds it meaningful, and uses that data to make an informed decision. That is what we do at GEOTECHNICAL OBSERVATIONS LIMITED. We can cover all the stages of the monitoring process, from specification to data interpretation and everything in between, but our main objective is always to provide our clients with trusted, high quality, and meaningful monitoring data that can then be translated into informed decisions. #ItsWhatWeDo #QualityFirst #monitoring #geotechnics #assetprotection #riskmanagement

Developing Procedures for Safe Operations Safe process operations require administrative procedures for designing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, changing and decommissioning the equipment, and for responding to emergencies, ensuring everyone’s health and safety, environmental stewardship, facility security and contractor safety. These procedures must be tailored for and used by each specific group involved in the day-to-day operations of the processes. Without them, the operational risks are increased, potentially resulting in incidents with serious consequences to people, environment, community surrounding facility and business. Engineering Procedures Engineers from many different disciplines should work the process and equipment design. Engineers apply mathematics and discipline specific knowledge in many different engineering fields, such as: 1-Mechanical engineers: Apply material properties, heat transfer, and solid and fluid mechanics to safely manage the reliability of the equipment and its instrumentation. 2-Chemical engineers: Apply chemistry, material properties, heat transfer, solid and fluid transport phenomena, unit operations, and process control to safely manage the materials and energies. 3- Environmental engineers: Apply material properties to safely manage their potential impact to the air, land and the water. 4- Civil engineers: Apply material properties, including building and supporting structure design, to safely manage the infrastructure of the facility. 5- Geotechnical engineers: Apply physical, mechanical and chemical properties of the soil and the earth materials to the terrain-specific location properties to safely manage the facility’s infrastructure (includes the potential for earthquakes). 6- Electrical Engineers: They are tasked with the intricate design, maintenance, and optimization of power distribution systems. Also they work in the design of control and remote operation processes of machinery and equipment. When any of these engineering disciplines change the design of the process equipment or construct new facilities, the discipline specific, written procedures should include the steps to ensure that current, acceptable codes and standards have been used and the steps to verify that the facility. #oil #refinery #plant #terminal #facility #engineering #desing #designer #procedure #electrical #mechanical #geotechnical #chemical #civil #environmental #LPG #LNG #oilandgas #safety #safeoperation
