What are you graduating from? What are you graduating to? Sarah Filman & I put those questions to the thoughtful, playful group who joined us for yesterday's session of Playing With an Improv Mindset. I've been mulling it over ever since we added it to our agenda. So many of my clients are ready to graduate from patterns that hold them back: fear, playing small, keeping their heads down and their voices quiet. The things they're graduating to are all different, but they share some things in common: speaking up, stepping into new roles, owning their joy. It's pretty powerful stuff. As for me, I'm graduating from the transition phase of building my business: learning to manage my own time, put myself out there, sell with confidence, and find joy in the process, not just the results. What am I graduating to? I'm still figuring that out, but I know it includes continuing to define who I'm for and what value I offer them, getting comfortable with new ways of communicating (hello, video!), and experimenting along the way. How about you? I'd love to hear what you're graduating from, and/or to!
