Next-gen technology and sales leader, driving growth through successful sales coaching, training and workshops & SaaS purchasing & adoption partnerships ask@boxinthesky.com.au
This morning, I attended a Pride Month virtual event organised by the amazing team at myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community a global platform for LGBTQ+ professionals and students to connect, find jobs, and discover events in inclusive organisations. The event focused on "Navigating Social Media as an LGBTQ+ Person." The diverse panel explored the positive and negative impacts of social media and the opportunities for authentic self-representation. It was thought-provoking and left me reflecting on how we bring our authentic selves to our professional lives and the opportunities we might miss due to unconscious and conscious bias. Are we safe to be transparent? Do we need to be subtle to avoid closing off opportunities, or do those closed doors lead us to networks and opportunities founded on bringing our best selves to work? One clear takeaway for me, as a new business owner, is the importance of creating opportunities by being authentic. I have the backing of my employer to be my best self (I am my employer), and while I may lose some opportunities, those losses will lead to doors that I can't wait to open. Time will tell. I'm curious: How do you balance authenticity and professionalism on social media, especially in the context of your identity and work? #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Authenticity #SocialMedia #DiversityAndInclusion #BusinessOwner #Networking #ProfessionalGrowth #InclusiveWorkplace

THIS WEEK ON MY QUEER CAREER: my weekly newsletter on LinkedIn focused on empowering LGBTQ+ (& Ally) professionals. Vol 18. This week’s question: Dear “Gay Leadership Dude®” … It seems my work has been in a constant state of change for the past few years. But one of the good changes is how we’ve focused more on celebrating diversity and inclusion. What is your advice on how not to just champion that kind of change, but determine if our efforts are making a difference? ~ Changemaker Chaz My 2¢ : Your support for an inclusive workplace is crucial. Many LGBTQ+ employees struggle with authenticity at work; 46% are closeted, 53% hear jokes about LGBTQ+ people, and 31% feel unhappy. Focus on these five indicators for an inclusive environment: leadership actions, inclusive corporate policies, real corporate values, support for inclusion, and external LGBTQ+ rights efforts. Reflect on your organization's status and identify areas for improvement or enhancement. Your commitment can drive significant change. Let's create a space where everyone feels valued. Embracing Diversity: The Power of Hiring LGBTQ+ Talent 🙌🏾 ✨ 🌈 In today's dynamic workplace, the value of diverse perspectives cannot be overstated. Hiring LGBTQ+ individuals brings a wealth of creativity, innovation, and unique experiences to many teams, driving businesses toward greater success and inclusivity. 🌈 However, it's crucial to recognize the intersectionality within our hiring practices, particularly for Black LGBTQ+ individuals who often face compounded discrimination and barriers to employment. By fostering an environment that supports and uplifts all voices, especially those at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities, we not only champion equality but also unlock untapped potential and foster a more inclusive culture. 💪🏾 Is your organization committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive, bringing their whole self to work? Let's continue to push the envelope, break down barriers, and ensure that diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our hiring practices. ✨ Together, we can build a brighter, more inclusive future. #EmbraceDiversity #LGBTQTalent #BlackLGBTQ #InclusiveWorkplace #DiversityAndInclusion #InclusiveCulture #PersonalBrand #DigitalMarketer

Motivational public speaking, training & consultancy for your Inclusion & Diversity journey. Using my lived experience of prejudice & discrimination I share teachings to make yours a more inclusive environment.
I love the energy and buzz I get from delivering a session to an engaged and motivated group! Just delivered another of the Wellity packages, Embracing Inclusivity: Celebrating Pride Month. I know its not Pride month anymore, but the message is the same! Another, corporate client, big in transparent products shall we say! Starting a journey to expand their LGBTQ+ network and overall DEI offerings. Some lovely feedback! "The way the information was shared, with a perfect balance of personal stories, evidence based facts and figures, and then solid advice on how to be an ally and foster an inclusive workplace" "The story at the beginning to set the scene and the struggles encountered that helped me to better understand the issues and to want to be an ally even more!" "It was just such an informative session, well presented and the video at the end was amazing :)" "Fantastic speaker. So eloquent, knowledgeable and considered. The little, "instant surveys," in the chat were a nice touch." "I just think this should be mandatory training for all employees" #LGBTQPlus #Inclusion #Diversity #Allyship

Diversity and inclusion should be celebrated every day. We're celebrating Pride Month by wholeheartedly supporting the LGBTQ+ community's inclusion within the construction industry as well as supporting a fully inclusive and diverse workplace. Toolbox talks on the matter are essential. Speaking about inclusion in the workplace is critical for safe work environments, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. Toolbox talks are a perfect opportunity to address this with persons at all levels of the company, and we have a few suggestions for what to talk about: ❤️ The history of Pride Month and why it's celebrated; 💛 An introduction and overview of appropriate and desired pronouns; 💚 Your company's dedication to the inclusion of all individuals; 💙 Your company's no-tolerance policy; and 💜 Resources for employees to learn more and/or access support. How are you celebrating Pride Month? #MBEX #PrideMonth #LGBTQ+ #BuildingEqually #EqualityForAll #ConstructionIndustry #LoveIsLove
