Day Pitney’s Commitment to its Culture – 2024 Partners’ Retreat In the embrace of Lake George's calm, Day Pitney’s partners gathered, a collective balm, To celebrate the magic, as though from a wand, Of the firm’s enduring culture, an unbreakable bond. Beneath the pines, we shared our dreams, With a former Justice, unraveling themes, Of diversity, equity, and inclusion’s might, A commitment toward trying to make things right. A probing, qualitative analytical approach The Justice, now our partner, did artfully broach Topics that challenged us to think, while planting a seed That would sprout solutions rather than simply acknowledge a need.   Then came the neuroscientist’s gaze, On loyalty’s fabric, its intricate ways, Of trust and bonds, how they intertwine, In the neural dance, our paths align, toward the end of client satisfaction. A symphony of ideas issued from the panel Of Millenials, Gen Xers and Boomers assembled To compare how we learn, what we prize and our expectations The differences bridged through candid communications. As hiking trails beckoned, and golf clubs swung, Extreme pickleball claimed a partner’s left arm. Dinners with loved ones, punctuated with tributes, To longtime, selfless partners and what each contributes. So here's to the bonds that Lake George spun, To the partnerships forged, the battles won. I wax poetic for what it means to me To be part of the team at Day Pitney. [Don’t fear that I will reprise this effort as the last time the poetic muse moved me was for my college applications!]

Family-owned businesses, especially multi-generational, can be wildly successful, painfully dysfunctional, or sometimes both. So today is my first day back physically into the office, and upon stepping back into the fold that is the physical offices here at Causeway it would be easy to just see us as "just another business with a flashy office". Causeway is so much more than that. Our leadership team are constantly looking for ways in which to enable the people that make up Causeway to do a better job for our prospects and clients. Recently we have undergone implementation of multiple new systems and trainings to streamline our processes, and even though these came with their own pain points, there have consistently been visible benefits. This in turn got me thinking about how we appear to our prospects and clients and why there may be hesitance there with regard to changing providers or indeed moving from paper-based systems into the digital age. I could not value more the logic that there will be some pain making those moves, but with Causeway, we try to minimise the pain, so our clients can see the benefits, in the same way our leadership team minimises our pain as colleagues within the business, to pass on the benefits of our knowledge and training to clients and prospects. #construction #office #causeway #leadership #digitisation

What a great CEO/MD’s Roundtable last night with Jonathon Close of Brabners talking about the role of Private Equity.A stimulating discussion with many interesting points and learnings from all the attendees including - In Q1 2024 PE deals were worth £175m in the North West - this is low and set to grow - Manchester has 40 PE houses - Choose your PE partner carefully - are your strategies aligned (see last point) - From 2025 onwards there will be an active talent shortage. Yes worse than now! - Get your retention strategy in place - Start recruiting to attitude/culture fit - problem-solving,good communication, initiative- skills can be taught - Trust your gut.
