🎙 ‘Carbon removals are an essential part of decarbonizing aviation.’ In my recent op-ed for Aviation Week Network, I discuss the urgent need for integrating carbon removal technologies into the aviation sector’s decarbonization strategy. While Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) has dominated the conversation, carbon removals are going to be at least as significant in terms of the solution – with the potential to contribution 25-30% of aviation’s carbon reduction targets. Removals offer a scalable and cost-effective solution to complement SAF, which faces its own challenges like sustainable feedstock shortages and market fluctuations. The aviation industry has already laid the groundwork through its experience with SAF in navigating regulations, market integration, and financing. This positions us well to quickly adapt and integrate carbon removal solutions. With a combination of SAF and carbon removals, we stand the best chance of hitting ‘jet zero’. At Farnborough International Airshow on Monday, I’m looking forward to discussing this further on a panel with the brilliant Carrie Harris, Anna Stukas, Hemant Mistry and Myles Allen. Hope to see some of you there! 👉 Read the full piece I wrote for Aviation Week, here: https://lnkd.in/egi_pNag
Great article in Aviation Week Network, Gabrielle Walker! And I wish I could be there at Farnborough; the all-star panel with you, Myles Allen, Carrie Harris, Hemant Mistry, and Anna Stukas is the one not to miss.
Well said, great article Gabrielle Walker !

3moWith the increasing demand on air traffic, (and it's possible effects on the jet stream) we certainly need an urgent solution to jet exhaust!
