In the quiet corners of our communities, there are families grappling with the heavy burdens of trauma. Yet, despite the weight of their struggles, the basic support they desperately need is often just out of reach. We believe that the road to mental wellness begins at home with practical support, such as decluttering and deep cleaning. These actions are more than just chores; they are the first, essential steps toward healing and stability. However, startling data reveals a disheartening truth: vast amounts of government funds are funneled into interventions that, rather than lifting these families up, often bring them no substantial relief. It’s time to challenge the status quo and redirect these resources towards positive, practical support systems. We must raise our voices! It is unjust that those in vulnerable positions are overlooked and under-supported. Every family deserves to thrive in a nurturing environment, yet many are denied this basic right. 🤝 This is the core of our mission at Grant A Smile CIC. We exist to speak out, to step up, and to secure the early intervention supports that can truly make a difference. ✊ Let’s unite for the cause. Let’s demand better. For support, justice, and the dignity every vulnerable family deserves. #MentalWellness #JusticeForFamilies #SupportNotStigma #EarlyIntervention #SpeakUp #ChangeMakers #CommunitySupport #FamilyRights

On this final day of Suicide Prevention Month, please consider joining us on October 19, 2024 at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - National Capital Area Chapter #WashingtonDC #OutofTheDarkness walk in support of the mission to end suicide. In 2022, 13.2 million American adults seriously considered suicide, 3.8 million planned an attempt, and 1.6 million attempted it. Suicide affects all age groups and demographics, with higher rates among non-Hispanic American Indian/Alaska Native people, veterans, rural residents, and certain workers such as individuals who primarily work from home. Young people identifying as lesbian, gay, or bisexual also face higher risks. Suicide is a leading cause of death, with rates increasing by 36% from 2000 to 2022. In 2022 alone, over 49,000 lives were lost to suicide, equating to one death every 11 minutes. Many factors, including violence and lack of support, increase suicide risk, while family and community connections and access to healthcare can help reduce it. Suicide prevention is crucial and requires a comprehensive public health approach. The CDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource for Action and #AFSP's Talk Saves Lives education program offers free evidence-based strategies to support at-risk individuals and promote overall population health. Everyone has a role to play in creating strong, healthy communities. We would like to thank KLC Consulting - Authorized CMMC C3PAO and Kyle Lai for their generous donation to our team. If you have the means to provide financial support or would like to join our team to participate in the walk, please use the link on the comments. #MentalHealthAwareness #SuicidePrevention #SupportEachOther #WorkFromHome #SuicidePreventionMonth Sara Cole Derek Kernus Katherine K. 🐾 Tired of your pup’s disobedience? Training your dog is a vital step in fostering a harmonious bond and maintaining a peaceful household. All you'll need is your dog, a leash, and lots of treats! 📚 First, start by teaching the basic command "sit" using treats as a reward. Once mastered, proceed to "stay", and finally "come". Remember, consistency and patience are key in this process. 🎯 Don't forget, practice makes perfect. Keep repeating these drills regularly and you'll soon see a well-behaved pup. Success may not come overnight, but it's certainly a rewarding journey. Happy training! 🐶 #dogpacks #dogtrainingmyluv #duckdogtraining #therapydogtraining #dogtrainingmaryland #dogtrainingismypassion #dogtrainingtreats #dogservices #dogmassage #cleverdog #agilitydogs #doggytreats #scentwork #detectiondog #basicobedience #trainingdogs #ecollartraining #smartpuppy #socialisation #dogsocialization #socialdog #wagwalking #petdaycare #psychiatricservicedogintraining #assistancedogintraining #dogagilitytraining

The past doesn't define your future, but understanding it can shape your journey towards healing and resilience. That's why we're here to talk about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) screening. Our Community Health Workers talk about ACEs with Healthy Start parents to create a safe space for them to explore their past and gain insights into their present. Addressing childhood trauma isn't just about your own well-being; it can profoundly impact your child's life too. Studies show that unresolved trauma can affect parenting abilities and even transfer stress to the next generation. By recognizing and seeking help for childhood trauma, you're not only investing in your own healing but also creating a nurturing environment for your little one to thrive. #HealingGenerations #ACEs

Empowering Lives through the development of Mental Strength & Optimal Wellness | CEO @emetgyms | Coach | Speaker
Loneliness can be brutal, but we don't have to face it alone. Just as we commit to building our careers by educating ourselves and taking courses, we need to focus on building a supportive and caring community around us. Surrounding ourselves with people who understand what we're going through and whose lives have taken a similar path is essential to our health and well-being. For many, this supportive community can be found in groups like Alcoholics Anonymous or through rehab centers like Houghton House. But no matter where you find it, the effort you take to build and grow your community is just as important as anything else you do. So take the time to find who you want to become, who you want to emulate, and find ways to share and connect with them. It may take time, but the journey towards a community is far healthier than the journey towards loneliness and isolation. Let's commit to building our tribe and supporting each other along the way. #support #community #mentalhealth
