Every human is entitled to have their name pronounced as their family intended.* #salesprofessionals that fail to pay close attention to the pronunciation of the names of people in a sales meeting (customers, partners, even new members of their own team) are asleep at the wheel and risk their credibility by acting like a bull in a china shop. If in doubt, take a minute to visit howtopronounce.com to confirm the pronunciation (practice it!) then check in with the person during the meeting by pronoucing the name and asking "did I get your name right?" DO NOT, assume that others are pronouncing the name correctly. If you do, you may be perpetuating the failure of others to get the name right. By offering this level of care straight off the bat, you will be distinguishing yourself as someone trustworthy, with good attention to detail and set the table for a fruitful relationship. *Unless, of course, they changed their own name away from their family's choice.
