Attendants of a patient allegedly attacked a junior resident doctor and misbehaved with the staff at Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Tahirpur, due to a delay in admission. Despite the incident, the 57-year-old woman was admitted and treated at the hospital.
The attendants attacked Dr. Ankit Vaishnav and held him by his neck, where injury marks were visible. The doctor has filed a complaint with the police.
While doctors were discussing the patient’s medical conditions, the attendants attacked.
He wrote a letter to CM saying, “The safety and well-being of our dedicated doctors and medical staff are of utmost importance, and it is distressing to witness incidents where they face violence while performing their duties. I urge your office to take swift and stringent action against the perpetrators responsible for the attack on healthcare professionals.”
This disturbing incident brings to light a severe reality: the aggression that medical staff face while performing their duties. The fact that these professionals are forced to work under such stressful and dangerous conditions is not only alarming but deeply concerning.
We need to have stronger laws and policies that protect doctors from violence. We often forget that doctors are humans. They’re not gods. They’re not immune to fear, pain, or stress. They need our understanding, patience, and respect. It’s time we stood together to safeguard their rights and safety.
As a doctor, I have witnessed similar incidents, which were heartbreaking at times. Let’s ensure that no doctor has to fear for their safety while trying to save lives.
