Kicking off 2024 with a focus on lone working safety. 👷♀️ Rachael Crozier, our HSE Manager says: “Due to the diverse range of work carried out at Thermatic, our HSE team get to take advantage of lots of different gadgets and systems to keep our engineers safe! In this case, our lone working ECO4 team now have a discrete device which they can use to alert a monitoring station if they ever feel in need of assistance. Having just read IPAFS Safety report for 2024 and many different IOSH reports for serious and fatal incidents, can you really hand on heart say you are doing everything reasonably foreseeable on your worksite? Now I'm not just talking work at height here however one of the latest reports, the young lad was at height. His hoodie, yes a bloody hoodie snagged in a door mechanism which strangled him! The access ladders used were of the wheeled, handrails and small working platfom on the top, so some good equipment available but a young man lost his life due to a hoodie! Do we plan our job start to finish, terra firma to terra firma? A couple of lessons I have learned from onsite incidents. The remote site ambulance driver only had a pass to get through the 1st gate which allows access to the offices, they couldn't access through gate 2 onto the main site. Luckily the CCR were on the ball and allowed the ambulance access. Another one that involves stretchers, the big orange stretchers don't normally come with lifting bridles and don't go up sea faring vessel steps very easily due to width and how steep stairways are. Look at your tasks start to end folks and make sure we consider all hazards. Involve all your team and clients wherever possible. Stay safe.

It was a great beginning to the Friday weekend ! The safety campaign with the people who matter !! We met with our Environment Solutions crew who plays a vital role in keeping the city clean and healthy. However, they also face many hazards and risks on the job, such as exposure to infectious materials, injuries from heavy equipment, traffic accidents, and stress. Therefore, it is important to promote a safety culture among the crew and provide them with adequate training, equipment, and support. The safety campaign for the waste management crew aims to raise awareness of the common hazards and how to prevent them, as well as to encourage the crew to report any incidents or concerns. The campaign consisted of posters , videos, and workshops that covers topics such as personal protective equipment, safe handling of waste, ergonomics, vehicle safety, and mental health. The campaign also features testimonials from the crew members on hazards at worksite, the related risks and how they have overcome them. The campaign will run for three months and will be evaluated by measuring the changes in safety attitudes, behaviors, and outcomes among the crew. #dulsco #safetyfirst #people #team #hse #healthsafety #culture

LIFE SAVING RULES Life Saving Rules are a set of guidelines in the work place which remind workers of the measures they need to take to protect their own safety. Here, are some lives saving rules that are useful though some may not be applicable to some operation. 1. Work with a valid permit when required 2. Obtain authorization before entering a confined space 3. Verify isolation and zero energy before work begins 4. Obtain authorization before overriding or disabling safety controls 5. Protect yourself against a fall when working at height 6. Plan lifting operations and control the area 7. Follow the rules for working in toxic gas environments 8. Follow safe driving rules 9. Keep yourself and others out of the line of fire 10. Control flammables and ignition sources PS: DO NOT WAIT BE A VICTIM OR A REFERENCE POINT BEFORE YOU LEARN TO OBEY SAFETY RULES.
