Radiation & Survivability. Sometimes it is taken for granted, but even for qualified parts some radiation testing is required to be absolutely sure the proposed spacecraft electronics will survive the harsh space environment for at least the mission life. Statistically, most spacecraft missions have always been asked to operate longer or to transition to a different role. BEFORE ANYONE WRITES THIS ALL OFF AS JUNK. The UK's reputable defense publisher Janes Defence (established in 1898) Aerospace Editor Nick Cook confirmed in his Book "Hunt for Zero Point..." the existence of this technology being developed by Germany's SS Officer Hans Kammler in the 1940s. Later Kammler worked on this with veteran aerospace engineer Bill Tompkins at the Rand Corporation after the war. Nick Cook also mentioned seeing this same triangular craft on a timeline poster for development at Lockheed Corporation's main lobby. The triangle craft was labeled "Astra". Lieutenant General Sir Nicholas Arthur William Pope of the UK military also had something to say about this tech also. Regarding "expired patent" - Just because you don't renew your passport doesn't mean you don't exist anymore. Or...? The reason the military disclosed this tech was to let the general public start developing it for the people. Otherwise, of course they would have kept it under wraps. So, folks... before you dismiss this as bunk, make sure you do the research, huh? Otherwise, you're making a uninformed decision. This looks spectacular but is actually the opposite of what we wanted to see here. The picture shows one of the pyro-valves of our rocket development project “SR Dorado”. In particular, it is one of the pressurization valves which control the flow of Helium into the tanks of the rocket to pressurize the propellants. It is being developed by one of our members based on an old soviet design for a fire suppression system. Testing showed us a minor (and very fixable) problem with the design as it stands: The sealant of the pyrotechnic actuator was not strong enough to contain the pressure generated by the pyro charge, blasting all the actuation gases - and a lot of sparks - out the back of the valve instead of actuating the piston of the valve. We think this is a perfect example of why verification and testing, especially of custom parts, is such an important step in engineering. Now we have the necessary information to refine the design and fix the issue before we conduct the next tests. We want to let you take part in all the ups and downs of our projects, not just the flashy success stories but also the problems we face – and they can be just as flashy! https://lnkd.in/gVe6MPim i often heard in my reviews of design and process risk evaluation efforts that my experience with all these failures modes that these are not common. see the table in the article.i have seen before . some examples of mine listed below are from about a decade ago: a. paschen's law and wire arcing from wire nicked during process of stripping of insulation showed their weakness. b. the emphasis on proper selection of connector and cable wire esp for extreme shock and thermal environments , hot and cold, something has kept me and my friends awake. c. one last point on Paschen's law. tin whiskers formed on lead free avionics can and do cause electrical shorts in space env. seen for third stage fight events. my big concern is , @ the end what amd how to capture the lessons learned and how to not forget those. Or, as someone suggested to me recently " lessons learned are overvalued, each team must learn these Over Again" Do you agree? #reliability #aerospace

"Tool performed great. TD was at 14,387 MD and 14,332 TVD. We had absolutely no problem with the signal, and we were still downlinking with no problem at TD. At TD, we were running 2 hertz, 17 watts, and the signal to noise ratio was 6.5.
