This time last year, the first of our Electricals Recycling Funded projects were launching in local communities across the UK. A year on and there are 40 projects nationwide, helping make it easier for 10 million people to reuse and recycle their old electricals. As some of these projects come to an end, we’re looking back at the amazing impact they’ve made. First up is the fantastic E-Cycle Revival Project from Ashford Borough Council. Through six amnesty-style events and Repair Cafe’s, they made it easier for residents in Kent to repair, donate or recycle their electrical items, especially those in rural areas - the results speak for themselves: 💚 209 items donated to local charities to support those in need 🔨 52 items repaired at a Repair Café ♻️ 3.2 tonnes of electricals recycled and saved from landfill These incredible results highlight the local community's commitment to recycling small electricals when accessible, simple solutions are provided. We are pleased to share that Tideway Property Managers in partnership with Waste to Wonder Worldwide have donated £20,998's (Fair Market Value) worth of furniture and reusable items that would otherwise go to waste through our ethical office clearance projects. These items go to communities in need providing essential supplies to schools, charities and other vital causes and has helped us to reduce our carbon emissions by 17, 634 KGS by repurposing old furniture, rather than sending it to landfill or recycling centres.

🌍 From Waste to Worth: Our Donation to Dogs 4 Rescue In every business, some stock inevitably gets damaged or can’t be sold. At Fibo, we are committed to sustainability and believe that there’s always a way to repurpose our products. That’s why we’ve donated our unsellable wall panels to Dogs 4 Rescue, a remarkable organisation that has rehomed over 1,600 dogs in the Greater Manchester area over the past nine years. Our panels are being used throughout their rescue centre, transforming spaces like groom rooms, catchment areas, and walkways. The impact? Here’s what they had to say: “We’ve used the boards throughout our rescue to create hygienic, easy-to-clean, and now very glamorous spaces. It has saved us a small fortune as we can build barriers and zone different areas using these strong panels. The time saved on cleaning and the reduction in repairs for chewed barriers are huge bonuses. Another Material Focus Electricals Recycling Fund project means that residents in parts of East Suffolk Council will be able to recycle small electrical items from home, with collections due to begin later this month. https://lnkd.in/evKueze4 Electrical collections will take place at the same time as existing household waste or recycling collections. Collected items will be sorted for recycling or, where appropriate, given to a local repair shed before selling the items to raise money for local charities. The Material Focus Electricals Recycling Fund supports projects to grow existing methods or test new creative and practical ones for reusing and recycling small household electricals. For example, there may be times when we have surplus timber on site. When this happens, we work with local charities in Eastbourne, The Shed, and the Local Allotment Society. We give them any surplus timber and pallets we have so they can be reused, repurposed or rehomed – cutting our waste and supporting others needing materials. Worried about letting go of things because they’ll end up in landfill? I get it. Many of us hold onto items for that very reason. But here’s the tricky part: by keeping things you no longer need, you could unknowingly be creating a mini landfill in your own home. The good news is, you can declutter responsibly and minimise waste. Here are a few quick tips: 1️⃣ Donate thoughtfully: Check with friends, local charities, shelters, or community groups to see what items they need- to give things a second life. 2️⃣ Recycle right: Research recycling programs in your area - local councils often have great schemes. And there are more and more recycling opportunities popping up - this week I learnt where to recycle old cookware and baking trays! 3️⃣ Be mindful moving forward: Before buying something new, ask yourself: Do I truly need this? Will I still value it in six months? The more intentional you are about what you bring into your home, the less you’ll have to declutter later. Decluttering doesn’t have to mean waste—it can be an opportunity to give your things a second chance at life and free up your space for what truly matters.
