Legitimate charities generally provide official websites where donors can research causes, transparency reports and donation options. Be hesitant of emergency or time-sensitive appeals only conveyed through messaging platforms. Check guidance from regulators like FTC official website, or give.org before responding to a new charity you’ve not previously supported. Major disasters are often covered extensively by mainstream media too where an authentic charity’s work could be cross-checked. Requests for immediate bank transfers are higher risk than established payment processors. Get contact details and do due diligence before donating to avoid funding potential scams. #cybersecurity #computers #acuitytotalsolutions

According to the #UK #Cyber_Security #Breaches Survey 26 percent of medium businesses, 37 percent of large businesses and 25 percent of high-income charities have experienced #cybercrime in the last 12 months.

We know that small charities rarely have budgets for training, or the capacity to send staff and volunteers to training sessions, so we developed our Elements Training Portal in partnership with NCVA Northumberland Community and Voluntary Action and Connected Voice to help.
