DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ECO-DESIGN AND BIOPHILIC INTERIOR DESIGN Recently, I wrote an article about Biophilic Interior Design (link to the article: https://lnkd.in/dDM_a75D) but forgot to mention Eco-Design. These two concepts are often confused and sometimes even combined. Biophilic design and eco-design share common traits such as a connection to nature and care for the environment but differ in their core principles and approaches. Here is a brief description of their differences: Biophilic Design - Goal: Connection with nature, improving health. - Elements: Living plants, natural materials, light. - Examples: Green walls, large windows with nature views. Eco-Design - Goal: Minimizing ecological footprint. - Elements: Recycled materials, energy-efficient technologies. - Examples: Furniture made from recycled materials, solar panels. As you can see, the essence of Biophilic Design is to be closer to nature, while the essence of Eco-Design is to minimize the impact on nature. #InteriorDesign #BiophilicDesign #EcoDesign #SustainableLiving #GreenLiving #NatureInspired #HealthyLiving #GreenSpaces #EcoFriendly #NaturalMaterials #EnergyEfficiency #RecycledMaterials

Navigating the Interior Design Landscape: Embracing Sustainability and Vintage In the world of interior design, a prevailing myth has long dictated that to achieve a fresh, modern look, one must discard all existing possessions for brand-new items. Early in my career, I occasionally succumbed to this pressure, prioritizing new over sustainable choices and overlooking the unique character and history that vintage pieces could bring to a space. I've since learned a valuable lesson – the importance of balancing innovation with sustainability. By reevaluating my design philosophy, I actively incorporate eco-friendly materials, encourage upcycling, and embrace the charm of vintage or pre-loved items. This shift not only reduces the environmental impact of my projects but also leads to the creation of more personalized and meaningful spaces. The outcome is a portfolio of sustainable and timeless designs that challenge the myth and celebrate the ecological benefits of reusing and repurposing items. Clients now appreciate the unique stories and characters that vintage elements bring to their spaces. The key takeaway from my experience is that interior design can seamlessly blend old and new, creating spaces that are not only visually appealing but also sustainable and environmentally responsible. By prioritizing sustainability and incorporating vintage elements, I've fostered a design philosophy that stands the test of time, contributing to style and endurance in interior spaces. #InteriorDesign #Sustainability #VintageCharm #DesignPhilosophy
