Our Chapter is excited to introduce our speakers for our next meeting on 9/27/23 at Black Button Distillery, Tom Cronmiller, Sanjeev Devabhakthuni and Mark Whitford, Partners of the Barclay Damon LLP Rochester office! Tom, who will be introducing Sanjeev and Mark, primarily focuses his practice on products liability, complex personal-injury, commercial litigation, and professional-liability litigation matters, including medical, legal, and accounting malpractice and directors' and officers' liability. Sanjeev primarily concentrates his practice on appellate advocacy, litigated tort defense, and insurance-coverage disputes. He represents individuals and businesses in defense matters ranging from simple accidents to complex exposure-related cases. Sanjeev also actively litigates insurance-coverage disputes in declaratory judgment actions throughout the country in the context of first-party loss and third-party liability claims. Mark concentrates on providing advice and litigation support to insurers across the country concerning their complex insurance needs, with a specific focus on commercial and excess liability, construction defect, property, directors and officers, and personal lines policies. Mark has briefed, argued, and succeeded on many commercial and insurance-related appeals throughout NY state and federal courts during his career. According to insurance carriers who can write Legal Malpractice (aka Lawyers Professional Liability) insurance for attorneys and law firms, not all Legal Practices Areas are rated the same. Some are deemed as higher risk and some considered as lower risk. Sometimes those premiums are also rated by the size of the law firm - if your law firm has 1-25 attorneys the rate may differ from those with 50+ attorneys. Sometimes the premiums are rated based on the loss history a firm may have had - if they had many or large legal malpractice claims in prior years, that may have an affect on their premiums moving forward as well.
