Work location undeniably shapes an employee’s experience, with fully remote (37%) and hybrid workers (36%) showing higher engagement than their on-site peers (30%). However, good managers and business practices have a much greater impact on key employee outcomes than location alone. Research from Gallup and Workhuman confirms that prioritizing the human element in workplace culture leads to significant improvements in employee wellbeing, regardless of where work is done. Yes! And between the setting of realistic performance goals together and communicating values through recognition is the clarity on career progression options. So many employees tick off performance goals and expect a promotion as recognition only to hear that a) it won't happen "this time round" b) only a few can be promoted and the quota is not big enough c) there are budget cuts. Of course, there are other ways to recognize performance and meet professional growth needs - but it requires honesty, clarity and transparency from leadership to communicate upfront what is possible 🤓
Insightful research, Gallup! It's clear that while work location plays a role, the real difference lies in how well we prioritize the human element in our workplace culture. We believe that strong leadership and supportive business practices are the cornerstones of employee engagement, whether they’re in the office or working remotely.
And make taking care of yourself the norm. Leaders are not trained/developed in a way that helps them understand what they need to do to support their people’s wellbeing and mental health. I’m on a mission to change that.🧜♀️
Focusing on strong management and positive workplace culture truly elevates employee well-being and engagement, proving that people-centric practices can make a big difference no matter where work takes place.
I coach HR leaders and noticed that so much of what we do is universal-it easily translates across industries, company size, across departments and even crossing into our personal lives. Ever notice that? The best sage advice I've received highlights our humanness which is starting to be appreciated and honored in the workplace. '🙏🏽PTL
It’s a powerful reminder that while work location plays a role, some of the real drivers of employee engagement and well-being is strong management and a healthy workplace culture.
On number three: provide recognition AND reward. Don't forget the reward part.
Great insights on the importance of workplace culture and effective management!
