[I was asked to repost this from a comment.] I invented the first real-time multiplayer arcade-style video game featuring joystick and texting. This was long before the Internet, it used a modem (back in 1987). I also have built utilities, award-winning creative apps, and over 120 other consumer products. Why am I mentioning this? All said, the hardest programming and the best programmers make.... video games. I'm reminded of the old joke about a mechanic working on a heart surgeon's vehicle, and he asks the surgeon 'Doc, you and I have a lot in common, an engine is a lot like a human heart, but you get paid so much more than me.' The surgeon replies 'indeed, but I do all my work while the engine is on.' I'd hire a game programmer before hiring anyone with even the best degrees in Computer Science in a HEARTBEAT! Anyone that doesn't recognize the value you bring to a dev team is truly inept. When you do your CVs, don't just say you made games, make it clear what it means to be real-time. Include the details of what it means to render glitch-free, to have interfaces that don't need documentation, share with interviewers what it means to make software that is fun. Know who makes most of the crappy software out there? Not video game programmers.

DO you want a technical Jack of all trades that can do Design and World Building, and do it flawlessly? David Shaver is the person to HIRE for sure!! He is a walking, talking design/world building principles and guidelines type of guy, and he's ALL about consistency! I had a pleasure working with him on multiple projects from Naughty dog for Uncharted and Blizzard for the Survival project. He is extremely passionate to make sure quality and the "fun" of the game is his highest priority. Him and myself always aligns each other on principles on player directionality, leading lines, set a visual/design foundation on how can we present a scene or a level, templatize player and asset METRICS consistency!!!! and relying on each other to create scenes artistically and smartly!!! Highly recommending David to any team!!!Get him before someone will!

In 2023, I more or less fell into a new adventure. Joining the duo of #gamecreators at Mega Moth Studio to begin work on X: Seekers of Fortune. While being involved in several niches of #graphicdesign and #branddevelopment for more than two decades, I stumbled onto something new and exciting - the world of #gamedesign ... or maybe I should say worlds (plural). Because this is truly a universe in a universe. As with anything new you discover how much you don't know - and that gets me excited. I love challenges and just when I start to think I've tackled the gnarliest ones, here comes a whole new barrel of monkeys in the form of an ambitious strategy card game. Compliments on what has been created and accomplished are already coming in for a game that has not even started its Kickstarter campaign. These small cards that fill your hands - and a good portion of table - are packed wall-to-decaying-stone-wall with art and flavor and story and passion for the medium. With key art from talented artists across the world and colorful frames and maps and packaging, the story of X: Seekers of Fortune unfolds in the way I always pictured when I collected cards as a kid or watched matches and competitions unfold at lunch and recess in junior high and highschool. No detail was skipped, no corner cut.
