Helping Owners put their Business Growth on Auto Pilot | Lean and Business Coach | ScaleUp Radio Podcast host 🎙️
🌟 Around 2 weeks ago, our team gathered at Gloucester Brewery Ltd, buzzing with excitement and ready to take on the challenge of a pub quiz. As questions flew and our minds raced, we found ourselves in the thick of a fierce competition and it was great fun. But as the final scores were tallied, we discovered we were just 1 point shy of victory! 🏆 Yet, as we reflected on the evening, it dawned on us that the true win wasn't in the leaderboard standings. The real triumph was in the camaraderie we shared and the support we extended to a noble cause. The quiz was organized to support the Hollie Gazzard Trust which is a beacon of hope for the Gloucester community. In business, as in life, it's easy to get caught up in the race to "win" - to outperform, to exceed, to be the best. But let's take a moment to ask ourselves, "What truly defines winning?" 🤔 Is it the relentless pursuit of being at the top? Or is it the joy we find in the journey, the growth we experience, and the support we offer to causes greater than ourselves? 🌱 This experience is about fostering "Joy in the Workplace" (something very close to my heart) by celebrating the spirit of giving, supporting, and being committed to a cause greater than any single victory. So, here's to the nights we don't win by points but triumph in spirit, to the lessons learned, and to the joy found in supporting each other and our communities. Remember, great conversations and fabulous results often stem from the values we champion together, not just the accolades we collect. 🌟 Let's carry this spirit forward in our businesses and lives. Because in the end, the greatest wins are those shared in support and commitment. 💖 #BusinessJoy #CommunityOverCompetition #SupportAndCommitment

Inspiring to spend the evening with tech-forward COOs, sharing commonalities in ways of thinking and experiences. Including, it turns out, walking fast. Interested to hear what unique value businesses find in a COO role? In an era of rapid technological and process transformation, it can be powerful and can also take many forms. #chiefoperatingofficer #coo
A massive shout out to last week's COO Roundtable dinner guests, thank you for a wonderful evening Anna Roberts, Valeria Leonardi, Tamara Castelli, Bethany Ayers, Frances Mannion, Eli Rezinsky and Maris Liigmann for coming along, sharing experiences, breaking bread and being great company. Thank you to the wonderful Vidal Meric for well structured and thought provoking hosting and for the brilliant handmade cards, a lovely touch, you can just see them on the table. I absolutely love the dinners as a way to really support COOs to get to know each other in a safe and welcoming environment. Our Christmas dinner at Barge East is the next evening meal for our COOs to look forward to at the end of November, I can't wait! #COO #ChiefOperatingOfficer #Community #Dinner #Coaching

Brewdog sold the notion on any anarchic vision they had for Scotland, down the river, years ago. Their very gullible 'Shareholders', who quickly turned into 'Brewdog disciples', merely helped turn them into the 'Fat Cats' they were told to despise. They must now surely be questioning their motives? It was all just a big Computer Game. At the start of the Brewdog journey, I was in one of their Glasgow pubs, at a book launch. After a speech, I asked for a show of hands, to gauge this fairly new 'Brewdog Phenomenon'. Incredibly, just about EVERYONE in the packed pub was a young and tech-savvy Brewdog 'Shareholder' with NO voting rights and a invitation to a Free Bar AGM, once a year. They deemed this to be enough. Fantastic even. It quickly snowballed, till it became the same, all over the UK. Was it just a Pyramid Scheme, for the 'Call of Duty' Generation? It wasn't surprising, they were easily the most creative thing PR-wise in Scotland, probably the UK. They were clever, funny and really abrasive. Rentaquote. Now, even if Brewdog DOES have any vision for sustainability in the Highland Forests, it's quickly demolished by those journalists who look at the REAL story and dismiss it as just another load of Brewdog, PR Balderdash. Brewdog rode this wave of Crowdfunding and were hugely successful here but as they've had to move BEYOND their young and enthusiastic supporters, they were met with the immorality and the deep cynicism of 'The City'. You can't be a Punk AND have an MBE. BOTH factions merely see you as increasingly bogus. You don't resonate with ANYONE. #scotlandisnow

"Diary of a Square Peg in a Round Hole Series" ~ Dr. Chiggy Caption: Early Birds 🐦 versus Night Crawlers 🌙 Once in an #exclusive social club, where camaraderie and distinction flourished, an acquaintance named Sewedo and I found our place among the discerning members. This club, draped in an air of sophistication, boasted lavish amenities and a sense of #exclusivity that bound its members in a unique tapestry of shared experiences. One day, a spirited debate erupted among fellow members concerning the lackluster patronage of the club's kitchen, despite recent improvements and upgrades. The clash of opinions echoed within the opulent walls, giving birth to two distinct #schools of #thought – the early birds and the night crawlers. The early birds, including Sewedo and I, were those diligent souls who graced the club with their presence in the early hours, contended that the kitchen's underperformance was rooted in the late availability of food. Their argument revolved around the fact that by the time they were ready to dine, they had already departed to be with their families, rendering them unable to partake in the culinary delights. On the opposing side were the night crawlers, who frequented the club during the late hours. They countered, asserting that the early birds' argument lacked validity since they rarely patronized the kitchen, regardless of its #operational hours. I took it upon myself to critically assess both arguments. It became evident that both parties were correct in their assertions; the only discord lay in their disparate #perspectives. It was a clash of temporal #preferences rather than a divergence in the desire for culinary excellence. Upon pointing out this revelation, the arguments ceased abruptly. A collective realization dawned that, in essence, they were all experiencing the same issue but from different angles. With newfound #understanding, a #compromise emerged, one that accommodated the preferences of both early birds and night crawlers. When faced with a deadlock akin to myself, Sewedo and our fellow club members; breaking the impasse involves urging each party to reconsider the situation through the lens of the other. This approach allows for the attainment of a harmonious compromise that serves the interests of all involved.

"For the new worker-owners at Wine Source, Baltimore provides a strong community of worker cooperatives to support its business. BRED is instrumental in making that possible, according to a number of sources who spoke with Baltimore Fishbowl. "“I love Baltimore, but … so much of the basis of the city is in exclusion, redlining is in racial segregation,” Christa Daring said. “I think because of that, it has been necessary for communities to come together and band together. And create alternative economic systems for a very long time.”" -Baltimore Fishbowl https://lnkd.in/evZ34TdY #workercoop #cooperatives #cooperativeeconomics #solidarityeconomy #economicdemocracy #democracyatwork #businessowners #sellabusiness #successionplanning #exit #legacy #employeeownership #nonextractivefinance #commerciallending #commerciallending #businessloans #coopfinance #nonextractivefinance #bredbaltimore #seedcommons
