This is indeed very interesting. I especially find it fascinating how different it is from the times when SEGA went this way (kind of) and how shocked we all were to see Sonic on non-SEGA hardware.
I mean, the industry is definitely not the same, Microsoft being the giant that SEGA never was, it makes you wonder what the future holds for this sector, in addition to the massive layoffs that have been happening recently.
Personally, I think this is for the best, but then again, it would leave only Nintendo and Sony in the hardware race, but for how long?
Are we finally going to see a white-label hardware world as imagined by the 3DO back in the early 90s? Are we going toward a hardware-less world where everything is in the cloud and we only interact with a TV or computer like Stadia originally planned in 2019? Scary, but still fascinating!
