Nerding out on video games with my sister growing up surprisingly taught us some 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 valuable lessons in the art of career advancement 🤓
Every weekend you could find Samantha Knowles and me in our basement, fiercely working to beat our Super Mario games.
Each time we advanced a level, we felt like we were on top of the world.
But that’s right when things would get tough 🥵
Bowser had new tricks for us. Crazy things were happening over on Rainbow Road. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘓𝘶𝘪𝘨𝘪 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵?
We’d find ourselves getting stuck.
But we didn't put the controller down.
Our parents didn’t raise no quitters 😏
Instead, when we faced a big challenge, we’d go back to replay the game at level 1.
Returning to the basics gave us time to sharpen our skills. It reminded us of what had made us successful in the journey all along.
𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 ☄️
When we returned to playing the game at higher levels, there was a noticeable shift: our new attempts to defeat Bowser began to hit 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 the way we needed.
My philosophy in career & business now, is much like the one I had for playing Super Mario back then.
When you start to feel defeated by challenges at work, know this: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝘁.
Hunker down on your strengths.
Leverage the tools that have made you successful once before - this time deploying them in newly reimagined ways.
Remind yourself that you’re a winner: 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦.
Before you know it, you’ll be like Mario - 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.

A great story about going against the tide (no pun intended, or is it?).
A smart move by an indie game maker landed him a plethora of sales, exactly because he was crazy enough to launch on the same date as Starfield (AAA title).
The strategy proved brilliant.
He succeeded because no one else indie was crazy enough to launch, so he was literally left alone at 2nd place. Anyone who wasn't looking for Starfield had one interesting choice!
And it paid off.
Can it work again? Who knows. Once others realize this strategy, it's very likely there will be future competition for 2nd place, as others will start to compete.
I think the key takeaway is creative thinking. Those who dare walking where others fear to tread is taking a big risk as well as reward.

The 2023 performance of our game Suzerain on Steam validates the effectiveness of our evolving game strategy. Managing the development of three different products with limited resources is undoubtedly challenging, but it's a clear testament to how growth is achievable with increased investment and effort. Our monthly active player count consistently hits tens of thousands.
We see the massive demand for more; our audience craves political narratives, country simulations, and everything in between. 🎷 We're committed to delivering on these desires with Torpor Games Political games are the future of fostering empathy and offering multiple perspectives.

"It's dangerous to go alone!" is more than a cautionary advice given to a young hero; it's a profound statement on the nature of life's journey. The Legend of Zelda, through its engaging gameplay and rich narrative, teaches #lessons on preparedness, teamwork, #courage, the importance of the journey, balance, and adaptability. These lessons, gleaned from the virtual world of Hyrule, hold significant value in our real-world endeavors, proving that sometimes, the most profound #truths come from the most unexpected places.

The center of the bigger game board is bold action💥

Exciting news for gamers! One of the most perplexing and interesting big releases of 2024, Dragon's Dogma 2, is finally launching! I am happy to promote my work on this such as the following feature. Keep an eye out this weekend for more work from me. #DragonsDogma2#gamingnews#2024releases
Supercell's Squad Busters is going into Global launch release - May 29th 2024! Brawl Stars was Global launched 6 years ago as the last game in the portfolio. We couldn't wait, so we did a deep dive into the latest changes from the previous Beta builds we already covered, you can read the latest here.
Character progression was radically changed. Currently you merge these 4 stages of shards starting from Baby form, going all the way to Ultra with a 10 to 1 merge conversion ratio. You can also buy a lot of shards in the shop, even unlock completely new characters. Btw, there is no Hard currency in the game. The gating mechanic on progression are chest tickets, which you need to use in order to open a chest, otherwise you can play just without getting rewards. Best currency sink in the game currently.
The Star Drop system from Brawl Stars was also added into the game, proving that Gacha mechanics reins supreme. This is powering the chest opening now, where each click has a chance on upgrade of the chest rarity. This also nicely connects to the streak mechanic, where by being in top5 you get a direct bonus in form of better chances of chest rarity upgrade and more shards. This essentially make the streak saver 2nd best gold sink in the game.
Battle Bag was also added, which adds consumables into the game, where players can now not only reroll the initial characters they get from chests during gameplay, but they can also open these chests without even having gold to begin with. With a rarity boost on top of it. Mega units were also added as "consumable" characters, which can appear in the chest, if the player have them in their inventory. The spend depth of the game is outstanding.
PvP incentive is still a challenge. It feels very chaotic, especially towards the end of the game where there are big squads of characters against each other and visually you can't easily evaluate each other's strength. The rewards for PvP are not that impactful and best case is that you avoid PvP as much as possible,. You want to farm up your squad towards the end, where you just want to end in top5, to not loose your streak bonus. I am curious, how the design team will tackle this issue, but I am sure they will ace it.

We've all played maze games at some point in our lives, and the easiest way to solve them was often to start from the end and work our way backward to find the perfect path. The journey to success works much the same way—begin with your end goal in mind, and you'll discover the ideal path to get there.
