Love seeing what companies have achieved and this video is a great way to see what Network Rail have been up to. All companies big and small deal with projects of all sizes but it is interesting to see what effort goes into this type of project. Have you watched the video yet? #networkrail #projectsuccess

Due to the closure of the LaSalle Causeway, we understand that many Kingstonians have been experiencing traffic delays travelling to and from the city centre. We know that these delays have been frustrating for some motorists, so here is what we’re doing to ease the gridlock: 🚦 Adjusting traffic signals on Highway 15 and Montreal Street to improve traffic flow through the Waaban Crossing. 🛑 Making broader signal changes along Highway 2 and Division Street to help ease congestion. 👀 Keeping a close eye on traffic patterns and adjusting signals as needed. 🚌 Adding extra transit services and detours to keep Kingston East connected. 👷♂️ Adjusting construction plans to minimize disruption along Montreal Street and Highway 2. If you can, please give yourself some extra travel time or consider avoiding the busier times. We understand that frustration levels are high, but let's all agree to avoid cutting through private properties and try to avoid blocking accesses to businesses. We're working hard to keep things moving for everyone.

Great to see Steve Rotheram re-elected as Mayor for the Liverpool City Region. His manifesto commitment to "develop a pipeline of Grey Belt* sites" is certainly welcome. It will be interesting to see how this manifesto commitment aligns with the emerging Spatial Development Strategy - which does not include any Green Belt review, or land use allocations. All 6 of the authorities that make up the Liverpool City Region have designated Green Belt land, and there seems little political appetite from any of them to see it developed. The SDS mirrors the adopted development plans in each LPA and effectively maintains the status quo in terms of housing and employment growth, so what will be the carrot and/or stick for developing a pipeline of Grey Belt sites? *Grey Belt sites understood to be parcels of land within the Green Belt that perform poorly against the purpose of including land within the Green Belt, as set out in the NPPF. #Housing #Planning #Liverpool

Excellent, informative interview by Chris Quigley on Victoria’s progress on provincially mandated housing targets. Many cities that are doing good work on housing are also seeing mandated targets as ceilings and they should be viewed at the least that should be done (a floor)…as challenging as they might be. And some that are doing good work are still (at least politically) placating NIMBYs - see recent news on Burnaby politicians resisting density in the greater Brentwood neighborhood (where quite a bit’s been packed in to date) citing enough has been done already. This, in a district where there is clearly much more possible - with large tracts of single family within reach of transit and other community infrastructure in a ‘town centre”. Good reasons why provincial intervention is needed to set targets and minimums for housing and density — cities need signals and requirements to do more in the a public interest that reaches beyond the boundaries of a single family neighborhood or a city boundary. Clearly cities will need tools, resources and support to deliver all this — another area for the province to step in / step up.
I had the pleasure of talking on CBC Radio about Victoria's progress against their annual housing target. Excellent progress has been made but turning approvals into construction starts will be the true test of success for our city and region. https://lnkd.in/gKAN2kQ6

In a word - Inspiring! This video captures the essence of Berkadia...Who we are, what we do and how we prioritize people.
The Babcock, once a city within a city, has been brought back to life thanks to the dedication of Clachan Properties, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Berkadia. After a five-year-long development project, The Babcock, and its iconic cupola, have been revitalized. Join us in celebrating the historic preservation of The Babcock and the Bull Street District in Columbia, South Carolina. #HUD https://ow.ly/PiGY50RZ4vO

My commentary to Josh White’s recent post: Josh: your post omits some key details that diminish the otherwise splendid west coast light bathing you in your new chief planner position: 1. The tempestuous blanket rezoning initiative recently approved by a majority of Calgary City Council was underwritten by Trudeau’s $250 million bribe to advance DIE (Diversity Inclusion Equity) values throughout the city. 2. The majority of City Councillors, including Mayor Joyti ‘Climate Emergency’ Gondek, are socialists, bordering on Marxists, who adore this form of federal ‘investment’. 3. 70%+ of those who spoke at the Public Hearing circus were NOT in favor of the blanket rezoning. 4. The majority of ‘low density neighborhoods’ that you claim will benefit from 4-8 plex developments are in fact R-1 single family neighbourhoods that are fundamental to Calgary’s urban culture. 5. You fled Calgary to take a similar position in Vancouver just prior to the hotly contested debate on the matter. Wherein is your accountability? Et tu, Brutus? 6. Tim Keane who was selected to be your replacement, resigns after only 6 weeks in the position. One can only assume he fled the sh*tstorm that was left in our fair city following your planning directorship. 8. No municipality on the earth has demonstrated that blanket rezoning leads to more affordable housing. This initiative was undertaken for purely woke, ideological reasons. Vancouverites: beware …
