🚨EPA Strengthens Transparency on PFAS🌐 Big news from the EPA! Seven per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are now automatically included in the Toxics Release Inventory. TRI data will now cover almost 200 PFAS, empowering communities to engage with facilities and reduce pollution. This move, mandated by the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, reflects the EPA's dedication to addressing the environmental and health risks associated with PFAS. Facilities subject to reporting requirements for these PFAS must track activities starting January 1, with reporting forms due by July 1, 2025. The first ever legally enforced standard to protect against PFAS exposure in drinking water was released last week - a huge step towards public health protection under EPA’s PFAS Strategic Roadmap. PFAS have been linked to several health concerns, arguably the most concerning of these being cancer.
