❤️📈👏 Day #2 of #AFPICON is over. But it feels like day 15 (in a good way). Here are my highlights. 📌 GiveSmart App lead a great presentation about how nonprofits are spending the entire year fundraising, not just at the end of the year. Thinking about fundraising outside of the typical end of year cycle, how can nonprofits create opportunities to engage their constituencies in unique, creative and personalized ways. 📌 I served at the #AFP Idea information HUB to represent the pirinciples of inclusion, diversity, equity and access. Fundraisers work with a wide variety of constituencies. Many of us come from places that have not exposed us to the beauty and depth of all the experiences that exist on this Earth. We must be kind, open and welcoming to all. 📌 One of the most mind-blowing presentations centered around moving from a place of scarcity to an environment of ABUNDANCE. Nonprofits do so much good work. It is not a rat race to the bottom. This is a world of plenty where fundraisers have millions of opportunities to raise the money they need to accomplish their missions. Change your framework and seek abundance. Grenzebach Glier and Associates – GG+A's webinar with Ann Snyder highlighting "Insights on Independent School Philanthropy" was interesting. (Link in comments) A couple important takeaways from #CASE data: - In 2022, $5.2B was raised. - Less than 2.2% of donors were responsible for nearly 77% of giving. - Median $$ per student raised was highest among girls' institutions ($8,493/day schools) and ($21,714/boarding schools). - Median $$ per school raised was highest at co-ed boarding schools ($4,861,029) and day schools for boys ($6,371,660) Elizabeth (Liz) Kolb Farr shared that for annual giving -- boards typically comprise 20-30% of total. For campaigns, boards often support at 30%+ of the total. Another interesting fact was that the average independent school advancement office has 7.1 FTEs. The MHC's permanent collections are to preserve Marietta and Cobb County's history with artifacts being used in exhibits, galleries, and given the highest level of professional care. The education collection emphasizes items for use in MHC's programs, research, and outreach initiatives. We use these items for people of all ages to learn and enjoy hands on experiences, because the best way to learn is to experience! By collecting these items, MHC can enrich its programming, enhance educational outreach, and support various community initiatives. “I’m built different”- is my 12yr old son’s response to any and every compliment. And you know what, he is. We all are. You know what else is?? Innovations that are needed to close gaps, make a difference, and change lives. We have been wildly successful (check our data) at this. But the best part, we get to also support community organizations by making connections, providing business and innovation guidance, serving on boards, and showing up wherever they need us. At the Lexington Children's Theatre, we provide an educational space and creative outlet for all children, we provide sensory shows, and we meet our communities how they need us.
