As Garanti BBVA International, we were delighted to participate in the Employment Network Event hosted by The Hague University of Applied Sciences. It was a remarkable experience connecting with the next generation of legal professionals and esteemed members of the legal community. For the last six years, we have developed a beautiful relationship and are particularly proud of the students we have worked with in the #KYC, #Legal, and #Compliance Departments, mentoring them through their mandatory internships at GBI. During the event, our team, which included current students and alumni, had the privilege of engaging with enthusiastic international law students eager to embark on their legal careers. We were impressed by their curiosity and passion for learning more about our activities and potential career opportunities within Garanti BBVA International. It was an excellent platform for students to gain insights into applying their academic knowledge in real-world settings. Their positive feedback and gratitude highlight the impact of these internships on their academic and professional journeys. It was heartening to see some of our former interns among the 1,550 THUAS law graduates now thriving in over 60 countries worldwide. The event was graced by distinguished personalities, including Reine Alapini-Gansou, Second Vice-President of the International Criminal Court. We also had the opportunity to connect with representatives from around 40 professional international organizations, making it a truly global and inspiring gathering. A special thank you to The Hague University of Applied Sciences for organizing such a successful event and for allowing us to contribute to the academic and professional growth of these talented students. We are excited about the potential future collaborations and opportunities discussed during the event. Thanks to everyone who participated and made this event a success! We look forward to continuing our support for the next generation of legal professionals and fostering meaningful connections within the legal community.

"I've interned at 12 leading law firms in Nigeria, so I don't need to worry about getting a First Class anymore." Ah! What did I just hear you say? Come. Walk with me. Garnering all the practical experiences you can, while in school is like preparing all the luggage you need for a flight, that you earnestly wish to board one day. And, your CGPA in the University and your grade in Law School are the Visas and Passports, you need to actually board the flight. Now, if you have prepared your luggage and you don't have those papers ready.. you most definitely cannot board the flight (unless you want to hide in the aeroplane's engine lol). Look. Internships provide you with valuable and practical experiences, no doubt. It allows you to know the workings of the Law- that is, the Law in practice. It shows you life outside the classroom. Also.. it allows you build strong and meaningful networks, you can call family. But, while garnering the practical experiences.. don't get too engrossed, that you forget about maintaining good grades. If your CGPA drops and the results end up not looking good, you have let your 'family,' all who believed in you and yourself down. So, while it's good to intern.. when you see it's getting to a point, where it's going to negatively affect your CGPA, put it on hold. If you don't remember any of the above, take this with you: ~ Once your papers are ready, you can still book the next flight. But, even with your luggage set, when that Visa is denied, you won't be able to book that next flight. ~ I hope someone is enlightened today! 😊💡 Share this with that loved one, mentee or close friend, you want to see come out of school in flying colours, today!! 🥰🫶🏾 Alright! I humbly remain your one and only, Chioma C. Aladimma, AICMC!! ☺️🏆 #ChiomaC #Law #Legal #Internship #Share #Motivation

Reflecting on an Incredible Internship Journey! As I conclude my internship, I am both grateful and excited for the invaluable experiences and practical knowledge I’ve gained. Over the past few months, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a range of legal and administrative tasks that have shaped my understanding of the legal profession, particularly within the banking sector. Here are some key highlights of my experience: Drafting Contracts: I was responsible for drafting various legal documents, including service-level agreements and maintenance contracts. This experience taught me the importance of precision and attention to detail to ensure that all terms are legally binding and protect the bank's interests. In-Depth Legal Research: Conducting legal research on subjects like compensation orders and the enforcement of magistrate court rulings gave me hands-on experience using legal databases such as ULII. I also deepened my understanding of banking law, particularly banks' legal obligations to their customers, by studying key cases and statutes like the Financial Institutions Act. Legal Writing: Throughout the internship, I drafted letters, memos, affidavits, and witness statements. These documents required clear, professional communication tailored to various audiences, from clients and law firms to internal teams. Each document helped refine my legal writing skills and taught me the importance of clarity and accuracy. Court Processes and Procedures: Preparing trial bundles, verifying court orders, and filing a complaint at the Uganda Law Council were tasks that exposed me to the intricacies of the Ugandan legal system. I learned the critical role that thoroughness and due diligence play in ensuring court proceedings run smoothly and efficiently. Special Titles and Land Law: Learning about issuing special titles (in cases where original land title deeds are lost or stolen) was a fascinating insight into property and land law. It highlighted the importance of legal remedies available to individuals and organizations in such scenarios. This internship has given me a unique perspective on the intersection of law and banking, particularly how legal professionals help mitigate risks for financial institutions. The hands-on tasks I was entrusted with have significantly enhanced my practical legal skills, from drafting documents to understanding complex legal concepts. I’m incredibly grateful to have worked with such talented professionals who supported and guided me throughout this journey. The skills and insights I’ve gained will serve as a solid foundation as I continue to pursue my career in law. Thank you to everyone who made this internship such a rewarding experience! #internshipexperience #professionalgrowth #legalskills #legalinternship

Highlights from Internship Experience UK x Bright Network Day 4!! ✴️ On Thursday I completed the IEUK internship in commercial law which was a needed experience because it cemented my career focus going forward. To begin, I am eternally grateful to have been invited to the TOP 50 meeting with Umay (Imaani) Yeahia from Clyde&Co who informed us of the schemes that the firm offers such as pro-bono opportunities for social impact, their LIFT programme and the skills needed in the legal sector. It was extremely insightful and allowed me to see what the firm offered. The main session from Katherine Neal covered the work sample. This work sample covered legal drafting, brief notes, draft letters and a litigation timeline with a claim form. ⚖️The task allowed me to focus on legal writing towards a prospective client and explain contract law in a dispute case using previous cases I have studied. 👩🏽💻It was followed by a self reflection task and peer assessment with Riapreet Kaur Chitolie, where we both provided each other with constructive feedback on our work! 📝 This was a big highlight as it provided me with the opportunity to try the work I’ll be doing as a solicitor. The wrapup was hosted by Philip Yarrow and Mel Richardson MBE (Nee Kose) from British Airways who provided a timeline on the trajectory of her career from her apprenticeship to the emerging talent role and MBE. 🧑🏽✈️ It showcased the importance of discipline in one’s job and the opportunities that can come with it. ✈️ She went into the brand identity of BA with their sustainability investments for innovative change in the future James Uffindell wrapped up the event with his top career tips! 📮 Having a plan for your future and being able to take risks to achieve them. To conclude, this opportunity was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested! #IEUK #CommercialLaw #BrightNetwork #lawstudent

🎉 Meet Our 2024 ACC St. Louis Summer Interns! 🎉 Introducing Mohamad Rajeh! 🌟 📍 Originally From: Syria 🎓 School: Saint Louis University School of Law 🏢 Internship Company: Charter Communications 🔍 Q: What appeals to you about becoming a lawyer? A: "As a first-generation immigrant, I find the complexity of the American legal system incredibly fascinating, especially the ability to effectuate change. While laws may seem rigid and strict, they can be changed through client advocacy to accommodate our ever-changing society. A cursory look at case law, for instance, shows how our rules have evolved through lawyers' work on cases. Such an avenue for change is a privilege and a blessing that is absent in many other countries." 💡 Q: Who or what has been a major influence or inspiration to you? A: "My father has been the major source of my inspiration. His support has been unwavering, especially since I moved to the U.S. during high school. While our family was dealing with uncertainty as we were moving into the U.S., my father worked very hard to ensure we had the best opportunities here. Even in moments when I doubted myself, he motivated me to push through and move forward. He instilled in me a passion for knowledge that shaped me from a high schooler who barely spoke English into a rising second year law student."
