The MIT spinout Emvolon repurposes automotive engines to serve as modular, cost-effective plants for greener chemical production. The company, which was co-founded by Emmanuel Kasseris SM ’07, PhD ’11, says it is making methane conversion economically attractive enough to be adopted at scale. The system can also take green hydrogen produced by intermittent renewables and turn it into ammonia, another fuel that can also be used to decarbonize fertilizers. https://lnkd.in/gc9X8sWX

- CF Industries Holdings, Inc., and JERA Co., Inc. announce a partnership to explore low-carbon ammonia production at CF Industries’ Blue Point Complex in Louisiana. - The joint development agreement aims to evaluate the construction of a 1.4 million metric ton capacity low-carbon ammonia plant, with JERA considering a 48% ownership stake. - The collaboration underscores both companies' commitment to advancing decarbonization initiatives and meeting the growing demand for low-carbon fuels, with production anticipated to begin in 2028.
