Is the Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) at your facility your bestie, or more like a complete stranger? Well, if your answer wasn’t “Oh yeah, we definitely know each other!” then NOW is the time to change that! Research has shown that positive collaborative relationships between RDNs + SLPs could result in ENHANCED clinical practice + patients outcomes. How awesome is that? 🙌 Some ways that SLPs can team up with RDNs to improve patient recovery are… ✔️Informal communication through medical records ✔️Regular in-person communication regarding patient care (i.e. instrumental assessment results, patient choices, and preferences) ✔️Participation in formal “rounds” or interdisciplinary team meetings ✔️Fostering curiosity through in-services ✔️Joint quality improvement programs Swallowing + nutrition go hand in hand. Patients' various conditions will either prevent or allow them to intake different foods. To best care for and meet the needs of your patient, it’s crucial that you establish a strong relationship + open communication channel with your facility's RDN. By doing so, TOGETHER you’ll lead your patient towards the same goal + will leave your patient feeling at ease and taken care of from all angles. 🤍 Tag an RDN you collaborate with to show them some love!

Join me April 14th as I present the pre-conference for the joint state conferences of the Washington State & Oregon Academies of Nutrition and Dietetics! We'll spend 3 hours taking a deep dive into the intersection of nervous system regulation, embodiment and behavior change for populations struggling with emotional eating, binge eating or food addiction. You can expect facilitated conversations with colleagues to find out what clinical strategies work to support this population, evidence-based frameworks you can apply in practice, and lots of practice with tools you can immediately implement with your patients including embodiment and attunement exercises, mindfulness-based self-compassion, and trauma-informed strategies. Elephant in the room: Should you be daunted by 3 hours of learning, know that I'm going to bring all my tools as a public speaker to keep you engaged, entertained, and informed.
