A new consensus for water? These new guidelines are part of continued action announced in the Plan for Water, which sets out government’s strategy to hold water companies to account and manage the pressures on our water resources through more investment, stronger regulation and tougher enforcement. A combination of social, environmental and financial gearing practices has bought about pressure on our existing water infrastructure but perhaps more importantly it drives the urgent need for a shift away from the older paradigm of “pay us first” in order to better manage our water sector going forward. Dispite the naysayers ( we need solution not more finger pointing) I do believe we have reached a place where permanent and meaningful change can take place. We’ve all seen recently that reputational damage can effect the profitability of some of our largest water companies….. The new factors are dictated by ESG requirements within institutional investment portfolios make It no longer acceptable to simply suck out all the profits from a sector which depends on our environment to provide the raw materials without sustainability considerations…,failure to build multiple technology plans for NRW and consumption management…. least we forget… cease and desist to spewing out pollution via ineffective CSOs. No more….. society and government has spoken! The industry intself has to now think smarter, manage and maintain critical assets better than they have. They have to invest in the actionable insights of analytics, understanding how the processes they operate are both effected by the environment and impacted by current limitations. Continuing to ignore long term investment over short term profits and greed and continuing to implement the same old Victorian solutions has to confined to the past. Simply put…… smart digital water solutions deliver more for less money. They inform and help develop better asset management sustainability and better environmental governance that builds a water sector and improves the wellbeing of our whole society. That’s what I hope from a new consensus for water.
Technology for Good: Sustainability, Innovation, Safety & Strategy in Flooding, Water Conservation, CSO Spill Reduction, Wastewater, Smart Networks, Power Networks, Rail - Radio Telemetry, IoT, Satellite & Smart Sensors
At last funding will be available to tackle CSO spills and improve wastewater quality. With this investment we believe more value can be gained by turning backs against concrete and civil works, and instead look at making existing networks #smart using #smartnetwork technology such as our sewer flow regulator system and smart pump controllers.
