New twist on an old favorite for the summer! From fruit-flecked sangria to slushy frosé, rosé has played a starring role in a range of summer cocktails for at least the past half-decade. But more recently, the pink-hued staple has taken a sweet new form: rosé lemonade. Many versions are spiked with vodka, but the most basic formula is dangerously easy to make, requiring just two ingredients: lemonade and rosé. When swirled together, the result is a low-abv refresher ideal for long summer afternoons. https://lnkd.in/g_ka-KBE

Happy #nationalmargaritaday! Did you know that the margarita is nearly 100 years old and is easily Mexico's most exported beverage? While there is debate over who served it first, most point to Baja Californian cantinas in Tijuana, Ensenada, or Rosarito. While the basis of a margarita is tequila, orange liquor, simple syrup, and lime juice, and can be served shaken, blended, or straight up, with salt on the rim. With thousands of variations to choose from, there's no wrong way to make it, and plenty of ways to have some fun and get creative. Cheers to the margarita! 🍹👏 In honour of the day, here is a recipe from the beautiful Belmond in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico INGREDIENTS 1.05 oz tequila ,1.05 oz orange liquor (Controy) or Triple Sec 1 oz lime juice Salt PREPARATION • Rub a slice of lemon on the edge of a rock glass -old fashioned- and frost it with salt. • Add enough ice in a shaker cup. • Pour in the tequila, orange liqueur or triple sec and lime juice. • Shake well and serve. TIPS • To make a frozen margarita, simply blend the ice and ingredients together. • If you want to add flavors to your margarita, blend the fruit of your choice with natural syrup and serve this mixture as desired. Just keep in mind that some fruits are sweeter than others, so the sweetness is to your liking #margarita #tequila #cocktail #drink #bartender #mixology #travel #foodtravel #foodanddrink

#SipwithKartik 1️⃣ Mead: Mead, often called “honey wine,” is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages, dating back to 7,000 BC in China. It’s made from fermented honey, water, and sometimes fruits or spices. 🍯 2️⃣ Bourbon: To be labeled as bourbon, this American whiskey must be made from at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak barrels. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to be made in Kentucky, though 95% of bourbon is. 🥃 3️⃣ Pisco: Pisco is a grape brandy that originated in South America, specifically in Peru and Chile. Both countries claim it as their national spirit, leading to an ongoing debate over its true origin. 🇵🇪🇨🇱 4️⃣ Port: Port wine is a fortified wine produced exclusively in the Douro Valley in Portugal. It’s typically sweet and often enjoyed as a dessert wine. 🍷 5️⃣ Caipirinha: The Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, is made with cachaça (a sugarcane spirit), lime, sugar, and ice. It’s refreshing and has a rich cultural history in Brazil. 🇧🇷 6️⃣ Sherry: Sherry is a fortified wine from the Jerez region in Spain, and it comes in a variety of styles, from dry to sweet. It’s traditionally aged in a solera system, where new wine is gradually blended with older wine. 🍷 7️⃣ Scotch: To be called Scotch, this whisky must be distilled in Scotland and aged for at least three years in oak barrels. Scotch is known for its smoky flavor, often derived from the use of peat in the malting process. 🥃 8️⃣ Martini: The origins of the Martini are uncertain, but it’s believed to have been created in the late 19th century. It’s traditionally made with gin and dry vermouth and garnished with an olive or lemon twist. 🍸 9️⃣ Hot Chocolate: The ancient Mayans were among the first to drink chocolate, but their version was much different—spicy, bitter, and served cold. It was often mixed with chili peppers, water, and cornmeal. 🍫 #KArtofMixology #Beverage #Facts #Bartender #Bartending #Bar

Another great story by James Hastings in Tasting Table on the best fruit liqueurs; some really great options here to help spruce up some classic cocktails. Thank you for including Chinola, it was a pleasure working with you. "Using passion fruit to zhuzh up a classic cocktail recipe isn't an especially new concept, and the invention of the porn star martini in the early 2000s meant passion fruit liqueurs have become something of a back bar staple. Many bartenders — myself included — typically opted for Passoã, at least until Chinola appeared on the scene in 2014. There's some expectation that any mass-produced fruit liqueur is going to contain a few artificial flavorings and preservatives. However, the Dominican Republic-based Chinola proved this is not necessary. The company claims to be the first to create a vine-to-bottle fruit liqueur using only fresh passion fruit, cane sugar, and neutral cane spirit, with zero additives. Remarkably, the liqueur is also completely shelf-stable, making it the ideal choice for both professional and home bartenders. The purity of Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur is abundantly clear in its flavor. It tastes exactly like fresh — and slightly boozy — passion fruit juice, with the perfect amount of tartness to balance the fruity sweetness, something that's often missing in this style of liqueur. It's an excellent addition to refreshing cocktails like mojitos, margaritas, and daiquiris, but it can just as easily stand alone on the rocks or with a little soda." February 1st is International Furmint Day. This is not a wine many may have heard of here in Australia, or maybe even tasted, but it is available, if you search for it. It is also considered to be a cool climate wine as the grapes are typically grown in very cool vineyards or at high elevation. It offers a unique connection to the heritage of Hungarian winemaking. Furmint (also known as Mainak) is a white Hungarian wine grape variety that is most noted widely grown in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region where it is used to produce single-varietal dry wines as well as being the principal grape in the better known Tokaji dessert wines. It is also grown in the tiny Hungarian wine region of Somló. Dry styles of Furmint are characterized by their aroma notes of smoke, pears and lime. Dessert style wines can develop notes of marzipan, blood orange, apricots and barley sugar. As these dessert styles of Furmint age they will often develop more smokey and spicy notes of tobacco, tea, cinnamon and even chocolate. The dry Furmint wines, pair beautifully with seafood dishes, grilled poultry, and fresh salads. The sweet Tokaji Aszú wines are perfect for desserts like fruit tarts and blue cheeses. #internationalfurmintday #iccws #internationalcoolclimatewineshow #coolclimatewines #morningtonpeninsulaevents #wine

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌹 On this very special day, we thank our moms for their unconditional love and dedication. We raise a toast to moms around the world! To celebrate, we are delighted to share a recipe for the “Drink and Be Mary” cocktail by Clover Club’s Julie Reiner that incorporates WOODY CREEK DISTILLERS Mary’s Select Gin. Read Julie’s thoughtful inspiration on why she would love to share this cocktail with her sweet mom. “I wanted to create a cocktail that my mom would love. She is a big fan of Asian flavors, so I wanted to lean into the yuzu notes in the Mary's Select Gin. I also wanted my cocktail to be low ABV as my mom is keeping it a bit lighter these days. The result is a beautifully floral gin cocktail lengthened with sake and a bit of soda. I know she will love it.” Drink and Be Mary 1 oz Woody Creek Mary’s Select Gin 1 oz Ono Sake .5 oz lemon juice .5 oz yuzu juice .5 oz raspberry syrup .5 oz egg white Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Dry shake and then shake with ice. Strain into a Collins glass over ice and top with 1 oz club soda. Garnish with a lemon twist and a raspberry on a pick. Let's learn about the difference between sparkling wine and champagne. In fact, champagne is a type of wine and can be said to be a type of sparkling wine. However, champagne refers to alcohol made only in Sao Paulo, France, and it can be said to be a luxurious wine brewed to have carbonation according to the traditional method. So, what would go well with sparkling wine? Sparkling wine is effective in helping digestion and promoting appetite. So, dry products that are not sweet are good to eat with salads or canapes, and products that have a strong sweet taste are good to eat with sweet desserts. Finally, let's learn how to store sparkling wine. This is the same as how to store champagne, and it is recommended to use a wine stopper. If you want to drink cool, keep it in the refrigerator, and if you lie down in a place that does not shine as much as possible to store sparkling wine, you can enjoy it for a long time. The Old Fashioned is one of the world's oldest cocktails, dating back to the 19th century. The drink's name may have originated in the mid-1800s as a reaction to more complicated cocktails. Some say it was created in 1880 at The Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky, while others claim it was created by James E. Pepper at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. The traditional recipe is made with bourbon or rye, simple syrup, Angostura bitters and ice which is then served on the rocks in either a rocks or low-ball glass and garnished with an orange slice or cocktail cherry. Angostura is the traditional type of bitters that was used but it can also be substituted for other types as well. The cocktail has evolved over time with fruit being added to soften the drink during Prohibition to mask the taste of the poor quality of spirits that were still attainable at the time. The result was a fruity version that included muddled orange and cherry, which can still be found in many restaurants/bars throughout the US today. The large ice cubes in an Old Fashioned are essential because they melt more slowly, which prevents the whiskey from becoming too diluted. As the water dilutes into the drink, it gives the cocktail a smoother feel on the palate. Whiskey is the showcase of this classic cocktail so the better quality whiskey used, the better the drink! It was even originally called the Whiskey Cocktail. A classic whiskey cocktail is just 3 simple ingredients - liquor, sugar, and bitters which makes the Old Fashioned such a great drink to make during a busy rush! What's your favorite drink to make??
