📢Did you know that we’re Chrome free? As part of our ongoing mission to become a truly sustainable business, we have successfully become completely Chromium Trioxide free. After dedicating several years and significantly investing into the research, development and trials of alternative chemicals, by the end of April this year, we were proud to have completely removed Chromium Trioxide from our processes- months ahead of the latest legislation set to govern this industry-wide, which comes into effect this month. David Nobes, Technical Services Director at Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd, said: “Over the past few years in particular, we’ve made a conscious effort to reduce or remove high-risk and non-sustainable chemicals and metals from the galvanizing process – to ensure it’s safer for our team, compliant with legislation, and in line with our sustainability targets (and that of our customers too). Speira invests eleven million euros in four new recycling furnaces. We are upgrading our plants in Grevenbroich and Töging with two new furnaces each, replacing the existing equipment with state-of-the-art systems. The four tiltable rotary furnaces will increase our #recycling capacity for low-grade scrap, i.e. heavily contaminated scrap and dross produced during the melting process. "We take a holistic view of our contribution to a functioning recycling economy. That's why we don't just look at the pure, easy-to-recycle scrap, but also at the more difficult lower grades and by-products.
