This is a great example of the growth of the #ev #manufacturing niche developing in Mexico. Also, the Electro Mobility Association (EMA) has been formed made up of industry leaders (Tesla, BYD, Evergo, JAC, SEV, VEMO, and Volvo). Mexico’s biggest risk today comes to its local small/medium size companies. As large OEMs land in the country, so do their foreign suppliers pushing local tier 2 and tier 3 companies out of the market. As state and local governments promote #FDI, they need to increase the competitiveness of the companies they already have. Let’s not fall into the same challenge #NAFTA created 30 years ago. https://lnkd.in/gyCUmH8y #EV #electromobility #fdimexico Williams Advisers International #wai #crossborder #texasmexico

One of my favorite quotes about innovation (which isn't originally about innovation, but still applies) is Bayard Rustin's "we need, in every community, a small group of angelic troublemakers", and this article is a great example. Because how did Norway, a country that has become wealthy on its vast oil reserves, become the world's #1 EV market, with more than 90 % of new cars sold being electric? The answer comes down to a home-converted Fiat Panda, loads of civil disobedience, and Morten and Mags from Norwegian 1980s pop supergroup A-Ha. It's a fun and informative read, that also highlights that while support from institutions is important for change to establish and become the norm, the spark of change almost inevitably comes from unlikely sources. https://lnkd.in/dEnWui9v

Is #Uganda's #automotive sector on the brink of a major transformation? https://lnkd.in/ezfZxXVB President Yoweri Museveni negotiated with South Korean company @HINENI Ltd to establish a plant in #Uganda to manufacture electric batteries and automotive components. This initiative aligns with Kiira Motors Corporation's mission and aims to boost local manufacturing, reducing reliance on imported car parts. As we look forward to this promising partnership, Here are a few questions we should answer - How will this #project reshape #Uganda's economy and job market? - What #challenges could arise during implementation, and how can we overcome them? - What other #international #collaborations could further enhance #Uganda's manufacturing capabilities? Let's hear your thoughts and insights in the comments. https://lnkd.in/ezfZxXVB #UgandaAutomotiveSector #GreenEnergy #SustainableDevelopment

Large #cargo #ships are a challenge in the #energy #transition. The fully electric river-to-sea #containership #Greenwater 01 of the chinese freightline #COSCO on April 22 completed its silent maiden voyage on the #Yangtze River. It is now the biggest fully electric #container ship globally. With its capacity of 700 20-ft-standard container it will serve a 600 mile long river route between #Jiangsu and #Shanghai. The 120 meter long and 23,6 meter wide ship has two motors with a capacity of 900 KW, fed by up to 50 container-sized battery packs with 1,600 KWh each, reaching up to 80 MWh of total battery capacity. The battery pack has an estimated cost of 16 Mio €. The batteries can occupy up to 7% of the cargo capacity, but the battery capacity can be adjusted to the intended route length. Shore-based battery charging off the vessel and swapping the batteries onboard will avoid loosing traveling hours due to charging. It will save 918 tousand t of fuel and 2,918 t CO2 per year, an equivalent of more than 2,000 ICV cars. Last year (Feb. 2023) COSCO formed the China Electric Ship Innovation Alliance in order to promote green and zero carbon development of the #shipping industry. In April 2022 the 700 container ship #Yara #Birkeland was taken into service as the world's first fully electric and autonomous cargo ship with a 7 MWh battery in #Norway. Portliner from the #Netherlands developed the EC 110 fully electric inland waterway vessel of 110 meter in lenght and 11,45 meter in width with a cargo capacity of 280 container or 7000 t. Powered by its swappable flow batteries it reaches a travel time of 30 hours and could serve the Rotterdam/Antwerp-Duisburg corridors. The Portliner EC 52 as the smaller version could load up to 400 t or 36 TEU container, equipped with dubble hull also for dangerous goods. Southamerican #ferry line #Buqueps ordered in July 2023 a 130 meter long fully electric ferry cataman for the route Buenos Aires/Argentina-Monteviedo/Uruguay from 2025 on with the capacity of 2,100 passenger and 225 vehicles from Incat Tasmania. Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel, the 18m and 25 t-#Hydromover was launched by SeaTech Solutions International (S) Pte Ltd, Shift Clean Energy and Yinson GreenTech in Nov. 2023. Advocates claim, that all inland shipping and 2/3 of short sea shipping will be electrified. COSCO SHIPPING Europe COSCO Shipping Lines (India) Pvt Ltd COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc. What companies like Milence are doing across Europe shows the future for us here in Australia.... except Australia gets the added benefit of low cost renewables to fuel the transition! Super exciting to see truck charging hubs happening across the globe. #electrictrucks #newvoltnetwork #fastcharging
What a milestone for the future of road transport! 6 months ago, we announced the development of one of Europe's largest public charging hubs for heavy-duty electric trucks, and today we are proud to open it. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the perfect location as it is a major hub for global trade, with 60% of the EU's purchasing power within a 500km radius. 20 charging bays and 10 high-performance CCS chargers are already available, and we have a plan for a rapid transition to Megawatt Charging System (MCS), which we were pleased to present today. This hub is a strong commitment to net-zero and sustainability and will contribute to the Green Corridor initiative between the ports of Antwerp and Bruges. A special thank you to Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO, Port of Antwerp-Bruges for joining us today and for being a strong supporter of Europe's energy transition. Thank you also to all our other guests, partners, and customers for being part of our journey: ✅The truck manufacturers: Daimler Truck AG, MAN Truck & Bus SE, Volvo Trucks, Scania Group, Renault Trucks, DAF Trucks NV ✅The customers: Einride, DFDS and VPD Transport & Logistics ✅All the partners who helped us build and design the hub in such a short time. Watch the video, read more about it in our press release, and follow us as we continue to expand our network: https://lnkd.in/e6xsVX_P #NewHubOpening #ChargingInfrastructure #GreenMobility #TruckChargingHub #GreenEnergy

Did you know that 1 in 4 buses in Norway use Tenix? 🚌 We couldn't be prouder to deliver valuable vehicle insights to bus companies all over Norway, and to have helped many of these companies seamlessly transition to electric fleets. According to Sustainable Bus, Norway has seen a 128.2% growth in electric bus registrations from 2022 to 2023, making planning and optimizing fleet charging with Tenix Charge more important than ever before. 🔋 Despite harsh winters and mountainous terrain, we know that electric buses work well in Norway with sufficient planning and scheduling. As the rest of Europe rapidly transitions to electric bus fleets, this is a factor that must be taken into consideration - infrastructure is crucial, but so are the digital tools that help bridge the transition from fossil fuels to electric.🔌 Read how Tenix Charge can help your bus fleet: https://lnkd.in/dxxz6Dhv https://lnkd.in/gimyFPwC
